DeepStar Six (1989) Review
DeepStar Six (1989) synopsis: “A team of navy personnel stationed at a temporary base at the bottom of the ocean and tasked with setting up nuclear missiles discovers a huge underwater cavern which houses a giant prehistoric creature.”Starring: Greg Evigan, Nancy Everhard, Taurean Blacque, and Miguel FerrerDirector: Sean S. Cunningham1989 was an interesting year. Four underwater themed movies came out over the course of those twelve months (including James Cameron’s The Abyss) and not one of them was successful. In fact, DeepStar Six was the only one to make its budget back! Granted, it cost the least to make at $8mil (compared to Leviathan’s $25mil and The Abyss at $75mil… we don’t have numbers on Lords of the Deep) but it’s still an accolade for Sean S. Cunningham and his incredible team! So, does that mean DeepStar Six was the best of the bunch? Well, not necessarily, but it is better than Leviathan (according to co-host Corey)! BOOM! shots fired lol… let the DeepStar Six vs Leviathan war begin!!We hope you enjoy this lively breakdown and review of Sean S. Cunningham’s DeepStar Six! Vice Squad (1982) Review
Vice Squad (1982) synopsis: “A single mother prostitute, who goes by the name Princess, finds herself forced to work undercover for the police in order to apprehend a homicidal, misogynistic pimp named Ramrod, who will do anything not to get arrested.”Starring: Season Hubley, Gary Swanson, and Wings HauserDirector: Gary ShermanThis week on Podcasting After Dark, co-host Zak shows us the sleazy underbelly of early-80s Hollywood with Gary Sherman’s Vice Squad! Starring Wings Hauser as a maniacal pimp in one of his first (and most terrifying) roles, Vice Squad is an insane rollercoaster ride of a movie that’s packed with fantastic actors turning in powerful performances; some might say too powerful for a movie like this. That’s what you get when you use extremely talented people like Season Hubley!Oh, and Vice Squad also just happens to feature a theme song sung by Wings freakin’ Hauser himself titled, Neon Slime! It’s the perfect cherry on top of a criminally underrated 80s cult classic. We hope you enjoy this lively breakdown and review of Gary Sherman’s Vice Squad! The Blob (1988) Review
The Blob (1988) synopsis: “A deadly entity from space crashes near a small town and starts to consume anyone in its path. Panic ensues, as shady government scientists try to contain the horrific creature.”Starring: Shawnee Smith, Kevin Dillon, Donovan Leitch Jr., and Joe SenecaDirector: Chuck RussellWriters: Chuck Russell and Frank DarabontThis week on Podcasting After Dark, co-host Corey dives into one of the most traumatic films from his youth, The Blob (1988)! It also happens to be one of the best horror remakes of all time (up there with John Carpenter’s The Thing and David Cronenberg’s The Fly) and the beginning of Frank Darabont’s amazing writing career! Top to bottom, the boys have nothing but love for The Blob, but that doesn’t mean Kevin Dillon’s mullet and insane wardrobe won’t get verbally ripped to shreds by them during the course of this episode lol!We hope you enjoy this lively breakdown and review of Chuck Russel’s The Blob! TV Obscura - Highlander, War of the Worlds, Brisco County Jr.
On this episode of TV Obscura, Zak, Corey, and Diallo dive into three very ambitious television shows from the 80s and 90s! The theme would have been “Movies that continued as TV shows” but Corey dropped the ball with his pick (thematically, speaking! It’s still a great show lol). Anyways, we’ll be discussing the Highlander TV Series (1992–98), War of the Worlds TV Series (1988-90), and The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. (1993-94)!We hope you enjoy this episode of Podcasting After Dark presents TV Obscura! Mutant (1984) Review
Mutant (1984) synopsis: “Two brothers discover that the residents of a small Southern town are being infected by a form of toxic waste, turning them into blood-ravenous zombies.”Starring: Wings Hauser, Bo Hopkins, Jody Medford, and Lee MontgomeryDirector: John 'Bud' CardosCo-host Zak kicks off his multi-movie Wings Hauser marathon with 1984’s eco-horror film, Mutant! And wow…what a kick off it is! Mutant is a wild schlocky ride but there’s a lot of gold to be found, you just have to dig a little to find it. One of those shiny nuggets is Richard Band’s fantastic score! Another is Wings Hauser lol. He’s a national treasure and the boys are super excited to celebrate his career.Listen to our interview with Mutant film composer Richard Band now exclusively on our Patreon page!— SUPPORT PODCASTING AFTER DARK —PATREON - Two extra shows a month, including our celebrity interview series, plus videos and other exclusive content!MERCH STORE - We have a fully dedicated merch store at TeePublic with multiple designs and products!REDDIT - Join our growing Subreddit community!INSTAGRAM / FACEBOOK - Follow us on social media for updates and announcements! This podcast is part of the BFOP Network— SPONSOR LINKS —Listen to Deadly Debbie's Creepy Files: Apple Podcasts / Spotify / StitcherFollow Deadly Debbie's Creepy Files on social media: Facebook / Instagram

Wes Craven's The People Under The Stairs (1991) Review
The People Under The Stairs (1991) synopsis: “Two adults and a juvenile break into a house occupied by a brother and sister and their stolen children. There, they must fight for their lives.”Starring: Brandon Quintin Adams, Everett McGill, Wendy Robie, Ving Rhames, and Sean WhalenDirector: Wes CravenThis month we dive deep into a nostalgic movie from co-host Corey’s youth: Wes Craven's The People Under The Stairs (1991)! Not only did he and his friends quote the hell out of this cult film when they were kids, but Corey also went to the same high school as Sean Whalen, who played ‘Roach’ (12 or so years behind him). Pretty cool! Go, Sherwood Warriors!! :) Let us know what you think of this review on our social media channels (links below)!— SUPPORT PODCASTING AFTER DARK —PATREON - Two extra shows a month, including our celebrity interview series, plus videos and other exclusive content!MERCH STORE - We have a fully dedicated merch store at TeePublic with multiple designs and products!REDDIT - Join our growing Subreddit community!INSTAGRAM / FACEBOOK - Follow us on social media for updates and announcements! This podcast is part of the BFOP Network— SPONSOR LINKS —Listen to Deadly Debbie's Creepy Files: Apple Podcasts / Spotify / StitcherFollow Deadly Debbie's Creepy Files on social media: Facebook / Instagram

TV Obscura - Shazam!, Manimal, and Misfits of Science
On this episode of TV Obscura, Zak and Corey are joined by fellow podcaster, Diallo Jackson to discuss Shazam! (1974-77), Manimal (1983), and Misfits of Science (1985-86)! As you can probably tell, there’s a loose superhero theme for this episode lol. Another theme is that two of these shows were destroyed in the ratings by CBS’ Dallas lol. That show was unstoppable in its timeslot! We hope you enjoy this episode of Podcasting After Dark presents TV Obscura!
