Life After Prison - A Man on a Mission to Right Wrongful Conviction
During his young teen years, Christopher Scott was given a prophecy by a priest who had occasion to meet him – that he would live a remarkable life – but would have to endure some horrific things along the way. Little did he know at the time just how resoundingly true and sobering this utterance would be. Only a few years later, Christopher would find himself in prison for a murder he did not commit, spend 13 years locked behind bars and miss seeing his two young children grow up and receive his tutelage. During his time in prison, he read voraciously and learned the plight of countless other men who had similar stories of being wrongfully convicted. And there prior to his release, the House of Renewed Hope was born. Today as free men, Christopher and his team travel the state of Texas to investigate wrongful conviction cases and literally breathe hope into the lives of people serving time, many of whom have been behind bars for more than three decades – truly a man “working on purpose.”Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/working-on-purpose--2643411/support.

A Leg Up: The Fine Art and Necessary Practice of Effective Communication at Work
What is it we do every day at work? We communicate. At its simplest, that’s speaking, writing, and listening. Since we do these things every day and often all day long, you might think we’d be pretty good at them. But it’s not necessarily so! Few professionals take the time and effort to cultivate these talents, and many view them as “soft skills that are nice to have but not critical to success.” Yet professionals enjoy a clear advantage when able to deliver clear and concise messages, whether in writing or speaking. Persuasive communication skills help us get noticed at work and will often distinguish a career in excellence versus mediocrity. Further, listening and communicating to resolve or minimize conflict strengthens us in a leadership role, when part of a team, or in serving clients. In this episode, we’ll talk with a communication expert who will share information, tips, and communication tools that have transformed careers, and are sure to help you.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/working-on-purpose--2643411/support.

What's in Your Company's Wellness Program - Got Yoga?
With a focus on long-term health and longevity, it is important that we stay strong and healthy to contribute to our families, our society, and certainly in our workplaces. It used to be the case that we all wore the badge of honor of sleep deprivation and no time to exercise, but our top tiers are seeing their teams differently today. They want healthy, refreshed, wide-awake team members who are vigorous and strong with a positive attitude. Mindfulness Based Stress reduction programs are on the lips of our executives, and many of our C level executives are participating in these kinds of activities themselves including meditation and Yoga. It’s not enough that we are going for our edge in our fields, we want to say there in good health. This means a cleaner diet, appropriate hours of sleep, vigorous exercise, and a mindfulness based stress reduction program.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/working-on-purpose--2643411/support.
