Bed-Sharing in Couples is Associated with Increased and Stabilized REM sleep and Sleep-stage Synchronization with Dr. Henning J. Drews MD

SHR # 2542 :: Bed-Sharing in Couples is Associated with Increased and Stabilized REM sleep and Sleep-stage Synchronization with Dr. Henning J. Drews MD - Sharing the bed with a partner is common among adults and impacts sleep quality with potential implications for mental health. However, hitherto findings are contradictory and particularly polysomnographic data on co-sleeping couples are extremely rare. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of a bed partner's presence on individual and dyadic sleep neurophysiology.PLUS The solution to all higher education needs started in 1855 in Kentucky. The Link Between the Gut and Death by Sleep Deprivation

SHR # 2540 :: The Link Between the Gut and Death by Sleep Deprivation - Dr. Alexandra Vaccaro - Dr. Yosef Kaplan Dor - Prof. Dragana Rogulja - The first signs of insufficient sleep are universally familiar. There's tiredness and fatigue, difficulty concentrating, perhaps irritability or even tired giggles. Far fewer people have experienced the effects of prolonged sleep deprivation, including disorientation, paranoia and hallucinations. Total, prolonged sleep deprivation, however, can be fatal. While it has been reported in humans only anecdotally, a widely cited study in rats conducted by Chicago-based researchers in 1983 showed that a total lack of sleep inevitably leads to death. Yet, despite decades of study, a central question has remained unsolved: why do we die when we don't sleep?

RLRx: Resistance Training In Older Adults – Effects On Muscle Function and Osteoarthritis with Ronnie Milo

SHR # 2538 :: RLRx: Resistance Training In Older Adults – Effects On Muscle Function and Osteoarthritis with Ronnie Milo - As we age the composition of our muscles change leading impaired muscle function. Many older adults suffer from osteoarthritis that makes them unable to exercise. As they move less, muscle function gets worse. Especially in the prime-movers lie the legs. Eventually this leads to inability to walking stability and falling. We look at two studies when taken together show that that degradation can be reversed by resistance exercise and moving more. Exercise also positively affects osteoarthritis symptoms making moving more easier. This may be the final word on "do we age because we move less or do we move less because we age". And this is an amazing opportunity for personal trainers and strength and conditioning coaches.

What Did We Learn: The Aftermath of a Media Blackout

SHR # 2537 :: What Did We Learn: The Aftermath of a Media Blackout - Dr. Judy Mikovits - In May I did a show with Dr. Judy Mikovits about her new documentary Plandemic. Many people took issue with many of the things Dr. Mikovitz said. The internet exploded upon her taking down post and shows she did in favor for anyone and everyone who would disagree with her. When you see this much of a coordinated effort it should make you wonder why. What was said that was so inflammatory that all media outlets felt the need to quash it? Every day there are dissenting opinions in science that do not elicit this gravity of response. One are where there is little room for disagreement is politics however. Is that what this is all about? Whistle-blowers receive all sorts of protection in the scientific arena. They do not, however, in the world of politics. Are our nations politicians trying to cover up something? We look back at the statements and assertions Dr. Mikovits made and see how right or wrong she was. Hindsight is 20-20.

Dose-response Effects of Protein Intake on Muscle Protein Synthesis During Recovery from Endurance Exercise

SHR # 2535 :: Dose-response Effects of Protein Intake on Muscle Protein Synthesis During Recovery from Endurance Exercise - Prof. Luc J.C. van Loon, Ph.D - The anabolic window has been well understood in recovery after resistance training for some time now. We've also understood that protein intake within that window increases the protein synthetic response to training. What is less understood is the effects of protein intake after endurance exercise and how it affects post-workout protein synthetic response. This study aimed to determine the effect of graded doses of dietary protein co-ingested with carbohydrate on whole-body protein metabolism, and skeletal muscle myofibrillar (MyoPS) and mitochondrial (MitoPS) protein synthesis rates during recovery from endurance exercise.

Efficacy of Glutathione Therapy in Treating COVID-19 Related Pneumonia PLUS 62 And None The Wiser

SHR # 2534 :: Efficacy of Glutathione Therapy in Treating COVID-19 Related Pneumonia PLUS 62 And None The Wiser - Dr. Richard Horowitz, MD - Infection with COVID-19 potentially can result in severe outcomes and death from cytokine storm syndrome, resulting in novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) with severe dyspnea, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), fulminant myocarditis and multiorgan dysfunction with or without disseminated intravascular coagulation. No published treatment to date has been shown to adequately control the inflammation and respiratory symptoms associated with COVID-19, apart from oxygen therapy and assisted ventilation. We evaluated the effects of using high dose oral and or IV glutathione in the treatment of 2 patients with dyspnea secondary to COVID-19 pneumonia. PLUS Carl turns 62 tomorrow. Is he older and wiser? Maybe not.
