Words About Books vs. Ready Player Two (Ready Player Two Part II)
This week it's finally time to bust out the 80s references! And also, you know, the actual story of Ready Player Two. After Ernest wastes a lot of time and energy on a dull part 1 he's basically starting and finishing the book in part 2! The true battle between Words About Books and Ready Player Two is about to commence!Support the showBlue Sky - https://bsky.app/profile/wordsaboutbooks.bsky.socialDiscord - https://discord.gg/6BaNRtcP8CThreads - https://www.threads.net/@wordsaboutbookspodcastInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/wordsaboutbookspodcastBlog - https://blog.wordsaboutbooks.ninja/

A Needlessly In-Depth Analysis of Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline
Hey are you ready for a fun trip into 80s nostalgia! Well you've come to the right place... in like 121 pages or so. Yeah we'll throw you a bone here and there. You remember Marty McFly's alarm clock?!? Yeah... I hope that reference will sustain you. Because we're not going to spend a whole lot of time in the Oasis doing Ready Player One stuff. Sure we'll go steal the script to Princess Bride but all that action and plot progression and "stuff that's actually happening" is going to have to come in part 2 of the book.I'm not joking. If you've read this book (and you obviously have because everyone reads along with us) you know that the pacing of this book is awful, the author really didn't care about this book, and he phones in the majority of it. That's so apparent here in part 1 where we're going to lay the ground work. The same way Ernest does: telling it to you directly. Then we're going to lay some groundwork, put some work on the ground, build up to some future stuff, establish the ground that we will be standing on, pouring the foundation for the book... do you get the point yet? This book sucks but Nate had to read it so you have to listen to this episode. The Ghost Hunters Adventure Club and the Train to Nowhere by Dr. Cecil H. H. Mills
Dr. Cecil is back and he's done it again! This brilliant super genius author man has once again changed the game in ways that we won't fully understand for generations to come. He's released another fantastic book about two alleged brothers and their much smarter female friend as they tackle THE TRAIN TO NOWHERE! It's got action. It's got drama. It's got suspense. It's got Nate challenging Arin Hanson to a fist fight! It's got everything you could ever possibly want in both a book and a podcast covering said book. We really hope this book does well because if it does we're all going to come out super rich with yachts! Also if you're reading this in the future check out our final episode of this year, December 25th, 2022 to see if this book wins another Words About Books award wherein we will inscribe Dr. Cecil and his book's name on a trophy and then... keep it. It's our trophy. Last year Dr. Cecil made it in the top 3 but NOT number 1. But maybe this year is finally his year to get the "coveted" trophy? Again he won't actually GET the trophy but he will get to look at it.Also coming soon: merch related to this book! Because when Dr. Cecil tells you to sell knock-off merch to keep the capitalism machine running, you listen.Support the showBlue Sky - https://bsky.app/profile/wordsaboutbooks.bsky.socialDiscord - https://discord.gg/6BaNRtcP8CThreads - https://www.threads.net/@wordsaboutbookspodcastInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/wordsaboutbookspodcastBlog - https://blog.wordsaboutbooks.ninja/

Thrawn Alliances Part 2: As The Mokivj Turns
Ben continues to describe Thrawn Alliances by Timothy Zahn to Nate. Things quickly get out of hand as Ben crumbles under the weight of two very similar timelines. Truthfully, we didn't even bother editing this one very closely. You wanted Thrawn. We'll give you Thrawn. In fact, why don't you all go smoke a whole CARTON of Thrawn. Thrawn (Yes, again) Alliances Part 1
Ben read Star Wars: Thrawn: Alliances by Timothy Zahn. Listeners demanded it. They even bought us coffee for it! Now it's here. It is Ben's turn to describe a Thrawn book to Nate. The result has been described as "a disaster" and "are you STILL recording?" Getting Tuf On Ecological Crime
Ben and Nate read "Guardians" by George R.R. Martin featuring his legendary recurring character, a hairless, obese man named Tuf. This is a real thing and I actually quite enjoy it.Support the showBlue Sky - https://bsky.app/profile/wordsaboutbooks.bsky.socialDiscord - https://discord.gg/6BaNRtcP8CThreads - https://www.threads.net/@wordsaboutbookspodcastInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/wordsaboutbookspodcastBlog - https://blog.wordsaboutbooks.ninja/

Minecraft: The Island and Interrupting Ben Nonstop
This week on Words About Books we tackle Minecraft: The Island! Ben picked this book when he was given the option and he has no regrets. Come listen as we discuss Max Brooks playing Minecraft for the first time and blogging about his experiences. Now with cannibalism and body horror!Fun tip: Did you know that if you pull out your crafting table, put a block of copper in the top left corner, the bottom right corner and the top left corner and then put a block of lapis lazuli in the middle and a block of amethyst in the bottom left corner you can ALSO interrupt Ben repeatedly!? It's fun, try it some time.Support the showBlue Sky - https://bsky.app/profile/wordsaboutbooks.bsky.socialDiscord - https://discord.gg/6BaNRtcP8CThreads - https://www.threads.net/@wordsaboutbookspodcastInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/wordsaboutbookspodcastBlog - https://blog.wordsaboutbooks.ninja/

A Long Meandering Summary of Iron Widow
Ben describes Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao to Nate. The boys are burnt out from House of Leaves, so Ben decides to regale us with a tale of a YA book he read recently. It's described as The Handmaid's Tale meets Pacific Rim. Does it deliver on that promise? Can Ben remember any of the terminology? Will Nate stop saying "polycule?"
