When you are in the middle of a legal battle involving money or your children, everything can feel like an emergency.  Unfortunately, the Court has limited resources and time.  This forces the Court to narrowly define what they consider an emergency.  In this episode, Leh and Todd break down what Courts tend to classify as an emergency and what situations will be given expedited consideration.  They also dive into what is really going on behind the scenes that limit the Court's resources.

Recently, Kevin Federline began legal action requesting more child support from his ex-wife Brittney Spears.  While he is currently receiving $20,000 per month, he is asserting that this amount is not enough.  For most people, receiving $20,000 per month tax free would be akin to winning the lottery.  In this show, Todd and Leh break down this situation, discuss how Brittney might defend against this action, and try to answer the question “When is $20,000 a month in Child Support not enough?”  

In this episode, Leh and Todd took on various legitimation, divorce, family violence, child support and family law questions.  They broke down what they thought was going on in each situation, what people can do, and what we can learn from their situations.  To create a little bit of a challenge, neither Leh nor Todd had a chance to review the questions before the show.  

In general, you are more likely to have a temporary hearing than a final hearing in a divorce or family law case.  In this practical episode, Todd and Leh break down what you should be doing to properly prepare for a temporary hearing in most situations.  Proper preparation sets you up for success on multiple fronts.  It helps reduce anxiety. It improves you chance of settling the temporary issues to avoid the hearing.  And, if you can't avoid the hearing, it puts you in the best position for a positive outcome.

In divorce and family law cases, it has been our experience that Temporary Hearings occur more often than final hearings.  Temporary Hearings are limited in nature and scope and are really designed to keep the status quo or keep the peace while the case proceeds forward towards settlement or trial.  For this reason, Todd and Leh decided to take a deep dive into this unique hearing so that you will have an understanding of what to expect at this hearing, including what the Judge will and will not address.
