BONUS: Choosing the best events to attend
With so many events out there, why does it seem impossible to find something worthwhile to attend? And what events are you supposed to attend to find a job or a cofounder — technical co-founder or otherwise…? I share some different ways and perspectives to look at each and every tech or startup event — or any event for that matter — to determine how and why it might be valuable to you in meeting the people you want to meet. Including identifying events that may introduce you to that elusive startup cofounder you've been seeking.
I need you to quit thinking about events with this kind of haphazard assessment. With a slight change of perspective, not only will you find more events that are interesting, you’ll get far more value out of each event you choose to attend.
Obviously, the easiest way to pick an event is to go to an event features content that’s of interest to you. I’m not trying to dissuade you from attending events that interest you. But let’s also keep in mind that not every event appears interesting on the surface.
Because events that are simply interesting to you may not be the events you need to attend. Are you looking for a cofounder? Are you looking for a new job? Are you trying to find your peer group? Are you looking to improve your skills?
Every single event has a variety of facets: topic, format, speakers, location… And it’s only by considering these various facets that we can truly find the events will be most valuable to you.
Let’s take a look at some of these less obvious facets to help you think a little more creatively about how you pick the best events to make the most of your limited time.
ANALYZING EVENTS
00:00 Let's find the best events for you
01:24 Consider the Topic

03:56 Pay attention to the Host
