The Psychology of Realness

Identifying Your Fantasy Bonds

"The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper name." ~ Confucius Back and burning more sage than ever is your host, Chad Grills. Today, he dives deep into "fantasy bonds" – what they are, how they affect your life, and how you can begin to identify them. Check it: Good News - Fantasy bonds exist in all our lives, but with the right tools and knowledge, you can face them. Chad introduces Robert Firestone's book, 'The Fantasy Bond,' starting at 1:00. Super Friend - Mission Producer Lacey Peace joins Chad once again. (It's almost like today's and yesterday's episodes were recorded back-to-back... weird.) Daily Mission - Pick out one relationship in your life that you suspect to be a fantasy bond, and identify what's real and what's fantasy. More details at 10:12. EDIT: Chad mentions that we have a daily newsletter. At the time of this recording, we did. However, just yesterday, we decided to switch from a daily newsletter to an even better, all-things-included, weekly newsletter. You can still subscribe to that by going to mission.org. --- You can subscribe to our weekly newsletter at mission.org and find us on the socials at @TheMissionHQ.  Email us -> info@mission.orgWork with us -> https://www.missionsponsors.com/Follow Stephanie -> https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephaniepostles/

Social Distance Yourself from Fear

Don't let fear-based narratives consume you. On this Monday edition of Mission Daily, Chad is joined by producer and friend Lacey Peace. Chad is burning sage, drinking green tea, and wearing two sets of headphones. Lacey is calling in from a little steel town known by locals as "Yinzburgh." It's a weird one. Here's the breakdown: Good News - A possible COVID-19 vaccine undergoing animal trials is showing some promise (link). Hear about that and more at 1:24. Super Friend - Lacey is a hardened Mission employee and joins Chad on the mic for the first time in a long time. They discuss why being in fight or flight is so unhealthy for the mind and body. (Dive deeper into that topic as it relates to COVID-19 here.) Daily Mission - This one is a tough one: Don't consume anything fear-based today. More on social distancing yourself from fear at 8:00. --- You can subscribe to our daily newsletter at mission.org and find us on the socials at @TheMissionHQ.  Email us -> info@mission.orgWork with us -> https://www.missionsponsors.com/Follow Stephanie -> https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephaniepostles/

I'm Not Okay. Are You?

"Are you okay?" is a question we all (yes, you) have answered dishonestly. It's time to change that. Chad shares how it felt to finally admit he wasn't okay and what questions you can ask to create the space so others can do the same. (Spoiler: You're gonna have to get vulnerable for this one.) Check it: Good News - A web of human connection exists all around us. Sounds gross, but hear us out at 1:00. Super Friend - Avo was one of the first people to encourage Chad to kick alcohol out of his life permanently. They talk that and more at 6:00. Daily Mission - Ask someone if they are okay, and try your best to create space for them to answer honestly. Here's the breakdown: Good News - It ain't all doom and gloom in the world of COVID, hear why starting at 2:20. Super Friend - Chad is joined by Adam Fisher, a veteran of the Silicon Valley “underground.” Sit in on the convo starting at 17:53.
