🌴107. Plot twist: I’m climbing Everest……………................... BC (and beyond)
This episode is a total curveball. A complete pivot from anything I had on my 2025 vision board. I’m not climbing to the top of Mount Everest, but I am heading to Everest Base Camp... and beyond. I’ve just said yes (terrified, excited, slightly in denial) to climbing Lobuche Peak — a 6,119m Himalayan beast that sits above base camp in Nepal. This was not on my radar. At all. It came via a text from an old uni friend (and podcast guest), Matt Stewart, who runs a company called Experiences Not Felt Possible. And true to the name, he’s invited me on an experience that feels... well, very not possible. Until now.In today’s ep, I talk through:Why I said yes before fully understanding what I said yes to 🫠The real fears I have (spoiler: they include bathrooms, fixed ropes, and altitude)How I plan to train over the next 6 months as a total hiking newbieWhat this means for the podcast, and how I want to bring you along for the rideAnd how I’m borrowing belief from Matt (because sometimes you need to outsource your confidence)This is going to test everything: physical grit, mental resilience, and probably my ability to function in a -30°C tent.🎧 Listen in for the backstory, the wobbly excitement, and why I’ve already started panic-buying outdoor gear.Sign up for free for my best articles every week: Work Fame.Show notes for every episode at https://podcast.leannehughes.comP.S. 🌴106. Inbox zero, again
Today’s riff is inspired by a lesson I learned back when I was a one-woman marketing department at a remote TAFE in northwest Australia. We had this boring-sounding course on email management that no one signed up for—until we renamed it: Email Hell to Email Heaven. Boom. It sold out three times. So yep, naming matters. But what really stuck with me from that course was a deceptively simple idea: stop organising your inbox like it’s 2005. Folders? Forget them. Just use search. That one shift helped me go from 364 unread emails (as of this recording!) to inbox zero.In this episode, I share:My personal (and slightly rogue) strategy for clearing digital clutterA reminder that unsubscribing is self-careA confession about overthinking replies and what Alan Weiss would do insteadA shoutout to my super-responsive mate Sarah—email legendI also ask: What would you do if you saw 364 unread messages staring back at you?Sign up for free for my best articles every week: Work Fame.Show notes for every episode at https://podcast.leannehughes.comP.S. 🌴105. The million dollar weekend
In today’s episode, I’m sharing my thoughts on Million Dollar Weekend by Noah Kagan. I'm about three-quarters through it, but I couldn’t wait to talk about it. It’s that good. You’ll hear why I’ve highlighted more passages than I’ve left untouched in this book (a rare feat), and why it’s become an instant favourite. What I love about this book is how grounded and actionable it is. Noah doesn’t just offer philosophy—he gives you steps. Real ones. Like, how to get three customers in 48 hours. No branding. No fancy website. Just real offers and results. Here’s what I dive into:Why asking is the underrated superpower in business and lifeThe danger of selling vitamins vs. painkillersThe genius of launching ugly and fixing in real timeHis beef jerky experiment (and what it teaches us about validation)My own reflections from writing The 2-Hour Workshop Blueprint and how I applied a similar principleIf you're someone who has 100 ideas but never pulls the trigger, this episode is a giant nudge.Sign up for free for my best articles every week: Work Fame.Show notes for every episode at https://podcast.leannehughes.comP.S. 🌴104. Run with the run
This episode isn’t just about running — it’s about mindset.I laced up, hit play on a 60-minute guided run from the Nike Run Club app, and suddenly found myself running (well, metaphorically) alongside Eliud Kipchoge — two-time Olympic marathon champion, former world record holder, and one of the greatest distance runners of all time.Kipchoge is calm. Measured. Soft-spoken. But every word he says? Hits hard. EIn this ep, I reflect on what I took away from the run, including:🧠 Why Kipchoge believes “the most important movement happens in the mind”🏃♀️ Why he says “run with the run” instead of resisting discomfort🛏️ The truth about his struggle with the cosy warm bed (yep, even him!)💬 My own marathon story and how Petra helped me break through at the 40km mark🛠️ The discipline = freedom insight that punched me in the face a littleYou'll also hear some wild stats:Kipchoge ran the Berlin Marathon in 2:01:09 — that's an average pace of 2:52 per kilometreHis 5km PB? 12:46. That’s faster than most people can cycle. And yet, he couldn’t qualify for Kenya in the 5km earlier in his career. Imagine if he gave up then? That pivot to marathons changed everything.I also explore how all of this links to our lives beyond running — showing up, discipline, resistance, and those areas where we say we want to improve, but don’t follow through.🎧 Listen if you:Need motivation to start or restart your running habitAre training for something big (or just want to move more)Want a mindset reset through the voice of a marathon sageSign up for free for my best articles every week: Work Fame.Show notes for every episode at https://podcast.leannehughes.comP.S. 🌴103. Why lurkers might love you the most feat. Anamaria Dorgo( Weekend Rewind)
Today we're joined by Anamaria Dorgo, a powerhouse community builder, facilitator, and L&D mentor who brings fresh energy and honesty to the space. We chat about the awkward but freeing shift from corporate trainer to facilitator (aka: from control freak to co-creator), how to stop obsessing over “engagement” and start thinking about value, and what it really takes to build momentum in a community or workshop – spoiler: it’s not about being constantly visible.Anna Maria shares:The exact mindset shift she made that changed the way she builds communityHow she uses brevity + structure to manage her own over-talking tendencies (guilty here too 🙋♀️)The difference between “looking engaged” and actually learning somethingWhy some of your most impacted community members will never like or comment – and why that’s okayHow she turned LinkedIn into a personal learning journal (with zero pressure to post every day)Whether you're running workshops, managing communities, or building a personal brand, there's gold in this chat.Sign up for free for my best articles every week: Work Fame.Show notes for every episode at https://podcast.leannehughes.comP.S. 🌴102. Are you undercharging and overdelivering? feat. Alan Weiss ( Weekend Rewind)
Today’s Weekend Rewind takes you straight into the latest Talk the Walk livestream I hosted with consulting legend, Alan Weiss. We riffed on pricing psychology, why people stay stuck undercharging, and how overdelivering isn’t noble—it’s often self-sabotage.Here’s what we covered:Why your pricing probably reflects your self-esteem more than market demandThe difference between a budget and money (this will shift how you sell)How strong brands repel discount huntersThe real reason you're giving too much away (and how to stop)Micro-moves that give off “discount vibes” without you even realising itWhy confidence in delivery starts before the first meetingWhat to say when someone asks, “How did you come up with that price?”And the ultimate advice if you know you’re undercharging…Plus:A mini masterclass on monetising value using one simple word: “Why?”Let me know what landed for you in this one. And if you’re quietly stuck in a pricing funk, I hope this gives you the nudge to stop playing small and start getting paid for your real value.Sign up for free for my best articles every week: Work Fame.Show notes for every episode at https://podcast.leannehughes.comP.S. 🌴101. Contain the work
Hey, it’s Day 101 — we’ve officially stepped into the triple digits of the year, and I wanted to share a productivity principle that keeps smacking me in the face when I forget it: Parkinson’s Law.It says that work expands to fill the time available for its completion. Simple. Obvious. Yet so easy to ignore. Whether it’s a report, a meeting, or writing a book — if you give it all week, it’ll take all week.In this off-the-cuff riff, I talk through:Why “more effort” doesn’t always equal “more impact”The mindset shift that helped me write The 2-Hour Workshop Blueprint in 52 daysWhy giving yourself a fake deadline might be your smartest moveUsing time constraints as rocket fuel (and how I gamify my own day)High-Intensity Interval Performance (my HIIP framework) for energy and actionHow busy-ness can mask as value and sabotage your wellbeingSet the timer. Well, we made it. 100 days, 100 episodes. 265 to go!In today's special 100th episode, I flipped the mic on myself. I used an AI voice to ask me a bunch of reflective questions — and I answered them, off the cuff, just like I always do.We cover:Why I started this podcast in the first place (spoiler: because it was hard)What’s surprised me most about doing this dailyWhen and where the best ideas show up (hint: the reverse park ep is involved)Why this podcast has made me a better observerThe gear I use, and why fancy tech isn’t necessaryWhat consistency has really taught meHow I’m thinking about the next 100 episodesAnd of course, I say thanks — because you’re here, listening, and that means everything.🎧 Listen in and then tell me:What’s one thing you’ve done consistently for 100 days or more? What episode surprised you most or stuck with you?Got a question you’d like future-Leanne to tackle? 🌴99. Reverse parking is a love language (for future you)
In this quick ep, Ihares a sticky little metaphor sparked from a local café run and a slightly annoying car park moment. The lesson? Reverse parking isn’t just a driving tip – it’s a mindset.I explore how doing something mildly annoying now (like reversing into a tight car space) is actually a simple but powerful gift to your future self. It’s modern-day delayed gratification in action (no marshmallows required). You'll hear:Why reverse parking is the new self-careHow to spot dull-but-important (DBI) tasks in your dayEveryday ways to set yourself up rather than scramble laterTakeaway:Want life to feel smoother tomorrow? Ever feel like you're in a weird limbo—not overwhelmed, just flat? You're not alone. In this episode, I’m sharing what I personally do when I hit those low-energy, low-clarity phases. This isn’t a guide on what you should do.
