The Losers' Club: A Stephen King Podcast
Bloody FM
Founded in 2017, The Losers’ Club® is an award-winning weekly series that chronologically digs through the work of Stephen King with humor, irreverence, and a critical eye. Each episode, the Losers gather together to read between the iconic pages and share the latest in King’s Dominion, whether it’s the author’s oft-controversial tweets, the boldest Hollywood headlines, or his endless forthcoming projects. The series also regularly features special guests. In the past, the Losers have spoken to Mike Flanagan, Thomas Jane, Tananarive Due, Chapo Trap House, Owen Teague, Mick Garris, Mary Lambert, Jerry O’Connell, Wil Wheaton, Joe Bob Briggs, and even King himself.

Henry Zebrowski and Holden McNeely on the Intersection of The Dark Tower and Dune
For this very special crossover episode of The Losers' Club. Today, Losers Justin Gerber and Dan Caffrey welcome co-hosts Henry Zebrowski and Holden McNeely of LPN Deep Dives: Dune for what can best be described as a frenetic and unpredictable chat surrounding the two authors and their two respective worlds. Together, they discuss Herbert’s vision of Dune as a Utopian novel, its box office potential (or possible lack thereof) when Denis Villenueve's adaptation hits theaters later this year, how it’s more complex than a lot of other well-known sci-if/fantasy epics, how it dispels the hero narrative, and, naturally, where it intersects and diverts from The Dark Tower seriesFollow via Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Patreon.Hosted on Acast. So, We Watched The Dark Tower Pilot
The man in black fled across the desert, and the Losers followed. In 2019, MRC and executive producer/showrunner Glen Mazzara attempted a pivot to the small screen with a more faithful reimagining of King's work. By dialing back to the origins of the series (see: 1997's prequel novel Wizard and Glass), Mazzara envisioned a multi-season arc for Amazon and director Stephen Hopkins shot the pilot in Croatia. Sadly, the streaming giant passed on the series in early 2020, leaving the 60-minute pilot in limbo. Fans were in turmoil. Recently, however, The Losers' Club was fortunate enough to screen the pilot, and gathered together to palaver over what they saw.Bonus: The Losers also spoke to Mazarra himself, who regaled them with insightful behind-the-scenes anecdotes and piles of notes for what could have been future episodes and seasons. Without spoiling anything, Mazarra truly remembered the face of his father, and the entire saga more or less amounts to a painful What If? in King's Dominion. They also weigh in on their own Dollar Baby short, "The Doctor’s Case" from Nightmares and Dreamscapes, and how they managed to secure an incredible cast in William B. Davis, Michael Coleman, and Denise Crosby. Don't miss the entire festival and follow along now via Twitter.Follow us on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | PatreonHosted on Acast. Mick Garris' Desperation Miniseries
The Losers grab some popcorn, turn on ABC, and revisit Mick Garris' 2006 miniseries adaptation of Desperation. Together, they discuss Ron Perlman’s scene-stealing performance, the defanging of God, a child actor tasked with an impossible role, and arguably the most baffling epilogue of all time. Fun fact: The three-hour television event features a number of familiar faces in King's Dominion, particularly Tom Skerritt (The Dead Zone), Steven Weber (The Shining), Matt Frewer (The Stand), and Henry Thomas (Doctor Sleep).Follow us on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | PatreonHosted on Acast. Later
Check it, there's a dead guy over there. He's talking to us. His mouth and his words don't match up entirely, but if you just listen, he's not hard to follow. Get used to it. They're everywhere. The dead. And they have a lot to say before they're gone forever. The Losers have left the West and have returned to the East Coast as they make their way back to Maine. Along the way, they visit New York City and stop by The Manhattan Restaurant of the Mind to pick up Stephen King's new hardboiled crime novel, Later. Join Losers Randall Colburn, Michael Roffman, McKenzie Gerber, and Rachel Reeves as they discuss the new rules of the dead, the book's ties to King's Dominion, and whether or not the twist works or flops.Note: This was first released three weeks ago via Patreon.Follow us on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | PatreonHosted on Acast. The Ties That Bind Desperation and The Regulators
The sun is setting and the Losers make one last stop to examine Stephen King's Desperation and Richard Bachman's The Regulators. Already, we've mined themes of religion, addiction, and authority in the Nevada desert and powered through cathartic writing, television, and violence in the suburbs of Ohio. What a long, strange trip it's been, and it's about to get even stranger, if you can believe that.Join Losers Randall Colburn, Jenn Adams, Dan Pfleegor, and Ana Marie Cox as they conclude their series on King's great twinning experiment. They'll discuss the benefits to writing as Bachman and the emotional core of this darker style. Is King funny? Would we read his published laundry list? Why is Richard Bachman so mad? All these questions and more will be answered as we discuss the author and his pseudonym.Follow us on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | PatreonHosted on Acast.
