John Jasper: A Remarkable Preacher Raised from the Shadows of Slavery (Audiobook)

Let’s talk before you start this book.We want to tell you a few things that might help you decide whether to keep reading. These pages tell the story of one Black man—not to praise or criticize the entire Black race, but simply to focus on him. He had no distinguished ancestry and left no true successors, though many tried to imitate him. Some thought they were like him, but in reality, they were of a different and lesser kind. This man was Black, and if you cannot recognize greatness in dark skin, you may want to read something else. He was shaped by the habits and ways of the Old South, having lived forty years before the Civil War and another forty after. Though he grew remarkably as a free man, he never abandoned the speech, tastes, and manners of the days of slavery. He was a remnant of the past, untouched by the changes of the new era.The educated Black preachers of the time did not welcome him. He dismissed their learning as empty noise, calling it the new "ish." In return, they saw him as outdated, an embarrassment to the church and the ministry. Yet, for all their schooling, none of them ever gained the fame or accomplished the things that this uneducated, unpolished son of Africa did.▶️ Listen on Scroll ReaderPaperback:https://amzn.to/4iWvbbX📖 Chapters:(0:00) Introduction(10:03) 1 – Jasper Presented(20:52) 2 – Jasper Has a Thrilling Conversion(29:34) 3 – How Jasper Got His Schooling(37:04) 4 – The Slave Preacher(51:29) 5 – “Where Does Sin Come From?”(1:07:59) 6 – Jasper Set Free(1:18:08) 7 – The Picture-Maker(1:27:55) 8 – Jasper’s Star Witness(1:49:38) 9 – Jasper Glimpsed Under Various Lights(2:07:50) 10 – Sermon: The Stone Cut Out of The Mountain (Daniel 2:45)(2:27:10) 11 – Facts Concerning The Sermon On The Sun(2:44:13) 12 – The Sun Do Move(3:11:18) 13 – One Jasper Day In The Spring of 1878(3:44:20) 14 – Jasper’s Picture of Heaven

Secret Power: The Secret of Success In Christian Life and Work - D.L. Moody (Audiobook)

One man may have “zeal without knowledge,” while another may have knowledge without zeal. If I could have only the one, I believe I should choose the first; but, with an open Bible, no one need be without knowledge of God’s will and purpose; and the object of this book is to help others to know the source of true power, that both their zeal and their knowledge may be of increased service in the Master’s work. Paul says, “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable;” but I believe one portion, and that the subject of this book, has been too much overlooked, as though it were not practical, and the result is lack of power in testimony and work. — D.L. Marshal Feng: A Good Soldier of Christ Jesus | China Inland Mission (Audiobook)

Although Hudson Taylor and D.E. Hoste are well known in mission history, the stories of Chinese converts often receive less attention. This biography introduces Marshal Feng—a soldier whose journey led from military service to salvation in Christ. What brought about his conversion? He was deeply moved by missionaries who truly lived out the command to "love your enemies," convicting him of the truth of the Gospel. As he yielded to Christ, many of his soldiers also came to faith. In Luke 3:14, Jesus instructs soldiers not to leave their service but to reject dishonesty and exploitation. Likewise, Feng and his troops became a living testimony to the transforming power of the Gospel. Wherever they were stationed, their changed lives bore powerful witness as they walked in obedience, integrity, and compassion, demonstrating the work of God in their hearts.Amazon Paperback: https://amzn.to/4izcnPoListen on Scroll Reader: https://scrollreader.com/audiobook/marshal-feng/Chapters(0:22) Intro (1:58) Foreword (6:48) Preface to the First Edition (8:34) 1 - Robust Christianity (14:37) 2 - Feng Yü-hsiang’s Conversion (31:14) 3 - Among China’s Western Hills (40:17) 4 - A Model Commander (50:43) 5 - A Great Work of Grace (1:01:56) 6 - Trial and Retreat (1:16:39) 7 - His Entry Into Sian (1:35:55) 8 - As Christian Governor (1:47:11) 9 - A Call to Battle (1:53:56) 10 - Enlarged Responsibilities (2:04:13) 11 - Inspector-General of the Forces (2:17:02) 12 - The Man Himself and His Views (2:22:07) 13 - A Personal Testimony and an Appeal (2:33:59) 14 - Recent Developments (2:43:15) 15 - The Unknown and the Unknown

The Pharisee and the Publican by John Bunyan (Audiobook)

In "The Pharisee and the Publican," John Bunyan presents a profound exploration of the parable from the Gospel of Luke, where two men—a self-assured Pharisee and a remorseful tax collector—enter the temple to pray. Through this narrative, Bunyan delves into the contrasting attitudes of these individuals: the Pharisee, who prides himself on his outward displays of piety, and the Publican, who humbly acknowledges his shortcomings and seeks divine mercy. Bunyan's insightful analysis challenges readers to reflect on the nature of true righteousness, the perils of self-righteousness, and the transformative power of genuine repentance. Oh, how many people are sadly trying to save themselves! May they repent of such a wicked thing as works-based salvation and trust in Christ alone! God, have mercy on me, the sinner! He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector." - Luke 18Paperback: https://amzn.to/3DqsoZ7(0:00) Part 1(1:33:24) Part 2
