Founded in 2018, Rhaeos is a clinical stage medical device company developing FlowSense, a patent protected platform technology and a noninvasive wireless, wearable skin patch that can assess and monitor fluid flow subdermally throughout the body. The company is initially targeting hydrocephalus, a life threatening condition caused by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Implantable shunts, the gold standard treatment, often fail, leading to multiple trips to the emergency room and repeat surgeries. There is no technology available today that can easily assess CSF flow in shunts wirelessly, bedside, and without capital equipment until now.
Chad began his technical career 16 years ago doing electronic test fixture design for a small tech start-up. Since then, he has held R&D positions in academia, government labs, startups, and Fortune100 companies. Most recently, he spent six years building global technology R&D programs in highly regulated industries at 3M, with roles in driving new technologies from lab concept to commercialization, new program development, trial execution, R&D strategy, intellectual property strategy and licensing, and acquisitions. He has >30 patents and patent applications, and 20 peer-reviewed papers, many of which form the foundation of wearable flow sensing technology.
