After 17 years, this is my last podcast

I want you to hear this from me rather than through the grapevine because you are part of my legacy.I've always encouraged people, as you know, to ask, what does this make possible? Well, 3 weeks ago, I thought I was an extraordinarily healthy 76-year-old guy. I eat a clean diet. I don't smoke. I don't drink. I exercise 5 times a week.On December 7, 2023, the doctors discovered I have very advanced pancreatic cancer that had already spread into my liver and into my bones and told me the prognosis is not good at all.Well, this gives me a unique opportunity to live out the principles I have taught all these years. Think about the way that I present life and how to approach things that are unexpected and unwelcome. I tell you to "never let your circumstances determine your attitude." I'm getting an opportunity now to test that out. Did I really believe those things, or was I just giving lip service to some kind of principles that I read in a book somewhere? My legacy is firmly embedded in people like you, people that I've had the privilege of interacting with in the past few years. You are my legacy. You are now the torchbearers of these principles that I borrowed from the previous great thinkers.Joanne and I have lived the life we loved for 55 years together. And we'd loved having the opportunity to inspire others to do the same. We have lived our dreams. I don't have a a bucket list of things I've not done. Anything Joanne and I wanted to do, we've done.I've loved creating new adventures, and now I'm anticipating an incredible spiritual transformation.Thank you for being who you are and for carrying a tiny flame from me to the many who you now have an opportunity to influence. My family set up a site for people to leave comments so I have the privilege of hearing the wonderful messages that you all are leaving there. You can access it here. You'll see lots of photos of my life journey on there — beautiful, beautiful memories I've been privileged to live through. And if you scroll to the bottom, you can leave your comments there. You've been so faithful, so responsive, so generous with your your questions, and even gifts and comments as well. Thank you for being open to growing, for being a powerful force and making the world a better place.I encourage you to become known for your positivity, for offering hope and encouragement to others. You heard it from me for so many years — continue to believe that we can, without a shadow of a doubt, find or create work and a life that is meaningful, purposeful, and profitable. So until we meet again, I'm your friend for eternity, Dan Miller.Listen to Dan’s full last episode and get direct access to leave a comment on his Love Board PLUS a free download of his book Rudder of the Day in the podcast show notes at: https://www.48days.com/dan-miller-legacy/.Episode #958December 29, 2023

Is your generosity helping or hurting the individual?

Even when offered with compassion, traditional charity, which should be only a temporary fix, can often enslave individuals—becoming a poverty trap—if extended into the long term. Instead of focusing on the potential, charity cheats them of using their God-given abilities and talents.Well, let’s talk about it - we’re right here at Christmas time and it’s a wonderful opportunity to be creative in how we can really help others.Questions: 1. Hi Dan, I’ve been listening for years and you helped me clarify and achieve my goal of selling 500 paintings in 500 days. 2. Could you remind me how the saying goes: “If you help someone once, they’re grateful. Help them twice they’re ….. Help them a third time they expect it.” 3. I started dabbling in eBay sales and would like to boost it up to be a full-time income. Is that possible? Get direct links to the resources mentioned on this podcast, including my Venn diagram worksheet and The Negative Cycle of Traditional Giving in the podcast show notes at https://www.48days.com/is-your-generosity-helping-or-hurting

WOS: Don’t waste your life believing you can’t

As we look forward to a new year let’s talk about the incredible capabilities of the human spirit. In the Success Principles, Jack Canfield recounts the remarkable tale of Laura Schultz, a 63-year-old woman who defied her own beliefs and lifted a Buick to save her grandson. This act led her to question the limitations she had placed on herself, ultimately embarking on a new journey to study geology and teach at a community college. Joanne and I have a friend who had a similar experience. After losing her speaking voice, she discovered a hidden talent for art. Both stories serve as powerful reminders that it's never too late to pursue our passions and unearth hidden talents within ourselves. Join us as we delve into the theme of self-discovery and the limitless potential within each of us.Find more about Dan Miller and Wisdom of the Sages at https://www.48days.com/wisdom-of-the-sages-podcast/

Are you staying just for the paycheck?

It’s true that the volatility created by Covid caused nearly everyone to reevaluate their work. Many experienced remote work for the first time and decided they would make that a priority from now on. Others heard about the desperate search for workers by hundreds of companies and decided to explore what seemed like easy options to advance or even change careers only to experience shift shock. We’ve heard terms like “quiet quitting”, “resenteeism”, “bare minimum Mondays”, “act your wage” and “sheltering in place” to describe simply tolerating a job in exchange for the paycheck. If you identify with any of these terms - it’s time to move on.I’m also going to give you 5 clear indicators of how you may be feeling that are even more pressing reasons you need to take action - now. And I have two Christmas movie recommendations that build on everything we talk about here on this podcast all through the year - as guiding principles to build your true success.Get direct links to the resources mentioned on this podcast in the podcast show notes at https://www.48days.com/sheltering-in-place/
