He received the Massachusetts Society for Medical Research Award and the Albert Einstein Award for Outstanding Achievements in Life Sciences (awarded by Harvard and the City of Jerusalem). He is chairman emeritus of the National Venture Capital Association and chairman of the Global Venture Capital Congress. He holds an engineering degree from Dartmouth College, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a BS in physics and economics from Hobart College.
