Ross on the Maintain the Design Podcast - Part 1

Season 3 Episode 43 P-Soupers – thanks for tuning in – this week the tables are turned – and it’s me in the hot-seat for the Maintain the Design podcast. People Soup is an award winning podcast where we share evidence based behavioural science, in a way that’s practical, accessible and fun to nourish your mind to flourish at work. So this episode is a bit different – you’ll hear me being interviewed by Thato Mathebula and G-Man, from the Maintain the Design podcast based in Johannesburg. The guys were kind enough to send me their edit of the interview and I've made it into a two parter for the P-Soupers. The questions they asked gave me a great workout on a Sunday morning in January. In Part 1- we talk about my work and the science that underpins it, some of the issues I work on, how I manage my own behaviour and I have a go a giving some advice to the younger generation. I was really chuffed to be asked by the guys – their podcast is about creative culture and lifestyle in various industries and niches, such as business, art, music and fashion. They say “Not being limited in our topics of conversation is our vibe!” I really like their approach and the range of their exploration. Their recent guests have included the rappers Flow Jones Jr and Jay Hood, a pioneer in South African dance and urban, culture Mernoly Simba and pro league athlete and trainer Chris Rauben You can find them at https://www.maintainthedesign.com/podcast Shownotes are at http://www.rossmcintosh.co.uk/2021/02/ross-on-maintain-design-podcast-part-1.html Twitter https://twitter.com/PeopleSoupPod https://twitter.com/RossMcCOACH Instagram https://www.instagram.com/people.soup/ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/peoplesouppod/ LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/ross-mcintosh-261a2a22/ Linktree - for links to many other podcast platforms and apps - linktr.ee/PeopleSoup And you can support the podcast by buying me a coffee! https://ko-fi.com/peoplesoup

Ann Parkinson - Part 2

Season 3 Episode 42 P-Soupers, thanks for tuning in! This week, it’s part two of my chat with physiotherapist, coach and author, Ann Parkinson. In this part of the conversation we dive into Ann’s book, "Dancing Through Life: A guide to living well". We explore the golden thread of compassion that runs through it, chat about the frameworks Ann developed to support the reader, talk about the connection between body and mind and reflect that many people are sitting and working in different environments right now, like the kitchen table or even their bed. Reviews are in for Part 1 on my chat with Ann. I think Shelly Prosko from Canada summed it up beautifully. She said on twitter "Wonderful episode – such a lovely interview - Ann you are filled with insight, compassion and wisdom." Shownotes are at www.rossmcintosh.co.uk Connect with Ross and the show! Reflections on the ACBS UK&ROI Conference 2020

Season 3 Episode 37 it’s a special episode – with three mini interviews. Way back in November 2020 – was the Association for Contextual Behavioural Science UK & ROI conference – a two day extravaganza of research, practice, insights and connection. Inspired by my pal Joe Oliver – I sponsored 4 students of organisational psychology to attend. In this episode you’ll hear from three of them – on their impressions of the conference, their standout moment and their own research interests. It was truly insightful to hear the variety and depth of their reflections. For those of you who haven’t come across the podcast before – we aim to nourish your mind to flourish at work, using evidence based behavioural science. And we’d love it if you’d support us by subscribing, reviewing and sharing. For now – get a brew on and have a listen to Sangita Bhalla, Alexandra Lechner and one student who preferred not to be named on their perspectives of the conference. ACT Diary 2020 - my reflections

Season 3 Episode 36 It's a cup a soup this week. In this 10 minute episode you can hear me reflect on how I've used the ACT Diary over a turbulent year. 2020 has certainly delivered for us all on both the uncertainty and anxiety fronts. I've found the diary particularly useful in ensuring that I attend to my own self-care in a whole host of contexts. I'm looking forward to having the 2021 Diary by my side next year. Helping me check in on my values, track my progress and think how I want to show up. You can order the diary direct from the publishers here https://www.pavpub.com/mental-health/well-being/act-diary and you should be able to get it from your regular bookshop too! Dr Jim Lemon - Part 2

Season 3 Episode 35 P-Soupers - welcome to Part 2 of my chat with Dr Jim Lemon. Jim is the Head of the Medical Paediatric Psychology Services in NHS Dumfries and Galloway. He's been using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with children and young people who have long-term health conditions, and their families. This work has also extended beyond individuals and families to using ACT in multidisciplinary clinics, with teams and on hospital wards. We cover a lot of ground in our chat. Jim charts the evolution of the adoption of the matrix and the prosocial approach to change within families and within and between teams and service in the NHS. To hear his illustrative examples and the way he describes the impact and growth of the approach is part of who he is as a human, generous and humble. When you listen I'm predicting that you'll feel the potential of the approach too. After listening to Jim you'll probably want to sign up for his workshop at the ACBS UK & ROI Conference in November. http://www.acbsukroi.co.uk/ Shownotes at http://www.rossmcintosh.co.uk/2020/10/dr-jim-lemon-part-2.html Connect with the show!
