Arsecast Extra Episode 287 - 13.05.2019
On today's show we look back at the 3-1 win over Burnley on the final day of the season, two more goals for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang which saw him win/share the Golden Boot, the final league position of 5th and some overall thoughts on our Premier League campaign, before we discuss Mesut Ozil after another away game in which he wasn't even part of the squad. What are Arsenal going to do about him this summer in the wake of stories from his agent about how much he wants to stay? We then answer questions about the best and worst moments of the season, loan players, transfer business and which players from outside the top 6 we'd target, which academy players might make the step up next season and lots more. Arsecast Extra Episode 286 - 10.05.2019
On today's much happier and more upbeat show, we discuss the 4-2 win over Valencia which sees us in the Europa League final at the end of May. Just how good are Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette? We chat about their performances, but also their importance in the present and our future as we look to rebuild the squad in the summer, as well as how crucial Champions League football will be to that work. Then we answer questions about the final, Petr Cech or Bernd Leno, who should take penalties if it goes to that, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, what would define Emery's first season as a success or not, and lots more. The Arseblog preview mentioned in the podcast is here: https://arseblog.com/2018/08/the-arseblog-season-preview-2018-19/ Hosted on Acast. Arsecast Extra Episode 285 - 06.05.2019
Another disappointing Premier League result has ended our top four chances. James and I discuss the 1-1 draw with Brighton – the latest in a dreadful run of form, chat about the culpability of the manager, the players, and the people running the club. We discuss the January transfer window and how that might have helped rather than hindered us, ask who is making the decisions, and worry about those running things and making decisions. Then we answer listener questions about selling Granit Xhaka, our summer transfer business, the injury that hurt us most, James comments about bad characters, selling Lacazette, and much more – including some madness from a famous parrot at the end. Episode 524 - One foot in the final
Joining me to discuss the 3-1 win over Valencia in the Europa League semi-final is James Benge of Football London. We chat about Arsenal's poor start and the fantastic response driven by the two strikers, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. We also discuss the incredible effort by Laurent Koscielny, the prospects for the second leg in Spain next week, how Unai Emery might approach this weekend's game against Brighton and much more. There's a splodge of the usual waffle too. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 523 - Valencia
Arsenal face Valencia this week in the Europa League semi-final first leg on Thursday, looking to bounce back from recent domestic disappointment and get a result which we can take into the away leg with some confidence. What about the opposition though? What can we expect from the La Liga outfit, what way do they play, and who are their danger men? Joining from Spain to discuss is journalist Dermot Corrigan. Arsecast Extra Episode 284 - 29.04.2019
A third defeat in a week has left Arsenal's chances of finishing in the top four very remote, but it has precipitated the longest Arsecast Extra of all time. James and I discuss the Leicester game, Unai Emery's approach, and the result in the context of our recent form which has seen us lose four of our last five league games. We chat about the squad, what needs to be done, the manager and his work, the ownership, the structures we're supposed to have in place but don't, our recruitment needs this summer, and loads more besides. There's a lot of introspection, plenty of confusion, a smidgen of bewilderment and probably no satisfactory answers but Arsenal's situation right now is a long way from black and white. Thanks as always for listening. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 522 - Europa League or bust?
On this week's show I'm joined by Amy Lawrence to discuss our top four chances after the defeats to Wolves and Crystal Palace. I'm a bit down but Amy is more positive as there's still a lot to play for this season – not least a European trophy. We discuss that, how the club is being run, and lots more, before I talk to Tim Stillman about the Arsenal Women who can win the title this weekend and crown a fantastic campaign. We also chat about the Wolves game, away form, Leicester and more. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Arsenal Women Arsecast Episode 3 - Quadruple
In 2006-07, Arsenal Ladies achieved a unique quadruple- winning the Premier League, FA Cup, Premier League Cup and the European Cup. They remain the only British side in the women’s game to have won Europe’s top prize. In this episode we speak with then Gunners captain Faye White, who missed most of the season with a cruciate ligament injury. We talk to Faye about her mixed emotions watching an incredible season unfold from the treatment table. We also speak to Gunners legend and striker Kelly Smith, who returned to the club from the US after battling depression and alcoholism. Kelly enjoyed an excellent, injury free season- but missed both legs of the European Cup Final in controversial circumstances. Kelly talks candidly about her frustration with rough treatment from opponents and how that frustration built to cost her participation in the game of her life. Relive this historic season through the eyes of Arsenal Ladies’ most successful ever captain and all-time greatest player. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Arsecast Extra Episode 283 - 22.04.2019
Yesterday's 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace was a big disappointment, and we try to make sense of it. From Unai Emery's team selection and formation, to the nightmare performance of Shkodran Mustafi, there's plenty to discuss. The German's role is front and centre, but did the manager take the visitors for granted, and leave himself short of options because he had to change so much at half-time. What now for our top four chances, we can qualify for the Champions League via our Premier League finish. How to approach Wednesday's game against Wolves, can we rest Laurent Koscielny, the probable end of Carl Jenkinson's Arsenal career and lots more. Hosted on Acast. Episode 521 - Laca's on fire
On this week's show I'm joined by Andrew Allen to discuss the 1-0 win over Napoli which secured our passage into the Europa League semi-finals. Then we answer some questions from Arseblog Patreon Members, and there's a theme flaming throughout the show with a chunk of the usual waffle. Enjoy! Hosted on Acast.
