Arsecast Extra Episode 360 - 08.07.2020
On this show we chat about a result tinged with relief but also frustration. Arsenal should have taken more of their chances in the first half of the 1-1 draw against Leicester, but in the end had to hang on with 10 men after a late equaliser. There were plenty of positives in that first period though, including another impressive Dani Ceballos performance and Bukayo Saka's contribution from the right. We discuss the missed chances, the red card for Eddie Nketiah and whether Jamie Vardy should have had one too, and Mikel Arteta's post game comments about the officiating and if that's a good thing or not. We also have questions about the front three for the North London derby, if it's time to play Aubameyang up front, Xhaka as a central defender, the prolonging of the 5 subs rule and lots more. Arsecast Extra Episode 359 - 06.07.2020
On this show we look back on the very encouraging 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday, and a performance full of effort from the Arsenal players. It looks like they're buying into the manager's methods, and we discuss the decisions Mikel Arteta made with his team, another set of very effective substitutions, containing a very strong Wolves side, and keeping a clean sheet in the process. There's also some chat about Matteo Guendouzi who is seeing the Good Ship Arteta sail off into the distance without him, before we answer questions about the back three and if it's here to stay, whether Shkodran Mustafi should get a new deal, similarly if new terms should be offered to Alex Lacazette, Sead Kolasinac in the back three, Santi Cazorla and lots more. Arsecast Extra Episode 358 - 02.07.2020
On this episode we have an enjoyable romp through Arsenal's 4-0 win over Norwich at the Emirates on Wednesday evening: including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the apex goal predator, midfield goal-getter Granit Xhaka, a debut strike for Cedric, Arteta's in-game management, and impressive Emi Martinez. We then chat about the positive news regarding Bukayo Saka's contract extension, before we answer listener questions about Auba's contract, Hector Bellerin facing competition, extending the Dani Ceballos loan, a new addition to the board, the William Saliba situation and loads more besides. Arsecast Extra Episode 357 - 29.06.2020
On this episode we go back over the 2-1 win over Sheffield United in the FA Cup. It was tight but there were some real positives, including the performances of Kieran Tierney and Nicolas Pepe, as well as a late winner from Dani Ceballos – which makes a lovely change from what happened at Brighton last week. We also discuss the continued use of the back three, Joe Willock, and dreadful TV commentary, before taking questions from listeners about Bukayo Saka, dealing with teams who have an aerial threat, our contract guru and how we might judge his work, the reported departure of exciting young forward Folarin Balogun, the absence of Matteo Guendouzi and lots more. Arsecast Extra Episode 356 - 26.06.2020
Today we get to talk about an Arsenal win for the first time in over three months! It wasn't the most exciting game, but we got the job done thanks to goals from Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock. We chat about the performance, Mikel Arteta's tactical tinkering, the impact of the young players, encouraging showings from Rob Holding at the back and Emi Martinez in goal, and how the substitutions played out this time. Then we answer listener questions about the Matteo Guendouzi situation, Hector Bellerin and his performances, our FA Cup chances and lots more besides. Hosted on Acast. Episode 585 - Extensions
On this special midweek bonus Arsecast I'm joined by Clive Palmer to chat about the contract extensions that Arsenal announced for David Luiz, Pablo Mari, Dani Ceballos and Cedric Soares. What is the thinking behind the deals? What about the relationships which made them happen? Is our executive level missing an important piece of the puzzle? And how do we manage the necessary rebuild with agent influence, the impact of Covid-19 and more.Follow Clive @clivepafc Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Arsecast Extra Episode 355 - 22.06.2020
On this week's show we go over the gory details of our 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Saturday. We chat about Bernd Leno's serious and completely unnecessary injury and why football has to do better with incidents like this. Midfield issues were obvious, we go over all three goals, Mikel Arteta's in-game management and the changes he made (and didn't make), and discuss just how disappointing a result it was. After the break we take questions about why the players didn't react properly to seeing a teammate get injured, the lack of leadership among senior players, what's happening with Gabriel Martinelli, some realistic positives we'd like to see between now and the end of the season, and lots more. Episode 584 - Executive Stress
On this week's show I'm joined by James Benge of Football London to discuss some of the issues Arsenal's Executive Committee have to face up to in very short-term. We discuss their contract management versus what they said they were going to do with contracts, agent influence in the Director's Box, and how they've dealt with the situations involving David Luiz, Dani Ceballos etc. We also chat about the problems at centre-half and whether or not that will force the club's hand into retaining the Brazilian, another helping of Mesut Ozil drama and more.Follow James @jamesbenge Hosted on Acast. Arsecast Extra Episode 354 - 18.06.2020
On this extra Arsecast Extra we go back over the 3-0 defeat to Man City, not quite the glorious return to football we were hoping for, but not particularly surprising anyway. We chat about team selection, how the early injuries might have impacted Mikel Arteta's game-plan, some small shoots of positivity, and then when it all started to go wrong. David Luiz was culpable, with a mistake, conceding a penalty and a red card, and we discuss his role on the night and what his role should be going forward. There's the omission of Mesut Ozil from the squad entirely, defensive problems due to injuries and suspensions, and we talk at length about the need to resolve some big, long-standing issues before we can start to move on as a football club. Arsecast Extra Episode 353 - 15.06.2020
On this week's show we get ready for the return of football on Wednesday, and chat a bit about the things we're looking forward to most. What would be the one question we asked Mikel Arteta if we had the chance? How do we sort out our central defensive options? Do we sign Cedric and renew David Luiz? All this, plus listener questions about the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang situation in light of the quotes that came out over the weekend – do we sell, keep or renew? Bukayo Saka's contract is another tricky one, should we sell Alexandre Lacazette too, and lots more besides. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
