Arsecast Extra Episode 522 - 23.04.2023
In this episode, we chat about the 3-3 draw with Southampton on Friday night, beginning with the shambolic start we made to the game, gifting them a goal and then falling 2-0 behind not long afterwards. We chat about the huddle, scoring quickly, late chances in the second half, and a tactical change by the visitors at half-time. There's focus on our defensive issues as we concede again, missed chances, a last 10 minutes in which we could have won it but came up just short, Thomas Partey's shot, and a result both teams will be unhappy with. We then have listener questions about possible changes for the Man City game, Emile Smith Rowe, talking about the title, links to Mason Mount and lots more. Please help support our April fundraiser for the Arsenal Foundation – details can be found on the JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/arsenalvisionGet extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. Episode 727 - Holding on
In this week's show I chat first to Tim Stillman about a difficult week for Arsenal Women, compounded by what seems to be a serious injury for Leah Williamson. We discuss the prevalence of these injuries in the women's game, and where it leaves the season with two huge Champions League semi-finals to come. Then it's Lewis Ambrose as we prepare to face Southampton on Friday night. We chat about the week of punditry and narrative, bottling and cockiness and all that, and examine what might be better reasons for the points we've dropped of late. We talk about the way the team misses William Saliba and discuss Rob Holding's role – all in the context of a title chasing season and the team we're fighting against. All that and much more.Follow Tim @Stillmanator : Follow Lewis @LGAmbroseThe Sky Sports article referenced: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11670/12859423/william-salibas-absence-hurting-arsenal-offensively-as-well-as-defensively-in-premier-league-title-race-with-man-cityThe Arsenal Foundation fundraiser link: https://www.justgiving.com/page/arsenalvisionGet extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. Arsecast Extra Episode 521 - 17.04.2023
In this episode, James returns to discuss the 2-2 draw with West Ham on Sunday. For the second successive game, Arsenal let a 2-0 lead slip, but this one feels worse than last week at Anfield. We try and analyse why it might be happening, and how it's in stark contrast to a very positive start. We chat about the pressure of the title race, Bukayo Saka's penalty miss, the goals we conceded, the impact of losing 50% of our first choice back four on how we play, and lots more – before listener questions about William Saliba, this being a team that might actually need pressure, the upcoming game at the Etihad, Emile Smith Rowe's lack of involvement and much more. In this episode I'm joined by Ryan Hunn as James takes some time to celebrate a new arrival, and we discuss the 4-1 win over Leeds on Saturday. There's praise for Aaron Ramsdale for some first half saves, before Gabriel Jesus got going again, scoring twice – his first from the spot, before a beautiful second which included an excellent contribution from Leandro Trossard who gets some flowers of his own.
