Episode 756 - Jesus brings the magic

In this episode I'm joined by Phil Costa to discuss Arsenal's 2-1 win over Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Overall it's a great result, and we focus first on the positives, which include the brilliance of Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli's debut Champions League goal, the ever-growing influence of Declan Rice, and the resurgence of Takehiro Tomiyasu. We then discuss some things which weren't quite as good, including Martin Odegaard's dip in form, David Raya's short passing, and Eddie Nketiah's substitute performance – but it's easier to chat about those things with three very good points in our back pocket.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. Arsecast Extra Episode 550 - 23.10.2023

In this episode we chat about the 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Saturday. We examine a sub-par Arsenal performance, especially in the first half, before discussing all the big incidents including the penalty that Cole Palmer shouldn't have been on the pitch to score, a half-time change by Mikel Arteta, Mudryk's fluke of a goal, substitutions that helped us, goalkeeping mistakes – the worst of which came from Robert Sanchez, but there's more to that goal than an error. Plus Saka comes to life late on, Trossard's exceptional movement, showing character versus a poor display overall, plus questions about post-Interlull Martin Odegaard, the missing piece in midfield, why we're not as fluent in attack this season, Takehiro Tomiyasu, punditry, and lots more. Please note: James is in Spain and the WiFi in his hotel was a bit dodgy so there are some audio gremlins in this one.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. Episode 753: Sweating over Saka

In this episode I'm joined by Phil Costa to discuss our 2-1 defeat to Lens in the Champions League. We chat about team selection, benefitting from a mistake to go ahead early before a mistake of our own led to an equaliser, a lack of conviction in some of our chances, the goal we conceded to lose the game, and how we struggled creatively. There's also discussion of Kai Havertz in midfield, Leandro Trossard, and of course the injury to Bukayo Saka which leaves us sweating ahead of Sunday's game against Man City. Episode 752: Reiss lightning

In this episode I'm joined by Sam Dean to chat about Arsenal's 1-0 EFL Cup win over Brentford on Wednesday evening. A much-changed side got the win, but it was almost a tale of two halves as there was a lot of defending to in the second period. We chat about the match itself, some of the individuals – including Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson, Kai Havertz and Aaron Ramsdale – and how that might boost a squad which is going to need its full depth because of injuries right now. We also chat about how Mikel Arteta will view the EFL Cup itself, and lots more.Follow Sam @samjdeanGet extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast.
