Jerry Taylor - ”The Discipline of Contentment”

Wed May 7, 2025 - 2:00 PM Presenter(s): Jerry Taylor This class will explore how Paul discovered a peace that did not rise and fall with the unpredictable winds of life, whether he stood in need or sat in abundance. His journey to the inward center of peace was not merely a triumph of endurance. It was a sacred pilgrimage of spiritual formation, a deep and deliberate study in a curriculum not sanctioned by the Roman Empire, nor approved by the institutions of power. Paul enrolled in a school that could not be seen with the eye, a school of the Spirit, rooted in the suffering of Jesus. There, each trial became a chapter. Each hardship, a textbook. Each persecution, a major exam. His was not a theoretical faith, but a lived theology carved out in prison cells, shipwrecks, beatings, and betrayal. Through it all, Paul learned to quiet the noise around him by tuning his heart to the eternal abundance within. Through mindful meditation, he cultivated a vision sharpened not by ambition, but by surrender. It was a vision clear enough to see beyond the fleeting gains and devastating losses that this world parades before us, a vision anchored in the presence of Christ, where peace is not circumstantial, but constant.
