The Remnant Radio
The Remnant Radio educates and equips believers in God's Word & Spirit, exploring Christian theology, church history, and the gifts of the Spirit in a manner that is engaging, relatable, and inspiring. Weekly, we bring together Christian influencers from various denominations to explore theology, church history, and the gifts of the Spirit. We don't always agree with the views of our guests. And, we don’t expect that you will always agree, either. But we are brothers and sisters in Christ, and we agree to humbly approach God’s Word so we can better understand it together. In each episode, we strive to offer constructive dialogue and healthy pushback without veering into argumentative or combative territory. Expect each Remnant Radio episode to be not only informative but also encouraging, entertaining, and, hopefully, inspiring. Our ultimate goal is to help every individual break out of their theological echo chamber and engage in the conversation. Visit our website and subscribe to our newsletter at www.theremnantradio.com.

What is Contemplative Prayer?
In this episode of Remnant Radio, Joshua Lewis and Michael Rowntree will talk to Matthew Esquivel about “contemplative prayer”. Matthew will explain contemplative prayer as understood by two spiritual heavyweights in church history; Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross. Using scripture and the guidance from Teresa and John, Matthew seeks to distinguish between the New Age views of contemplative prayer and the kind contemplative prayer within the Christain tradition. While tying this ancient practice into the “soaking" emphasis we see in the modern charismatic church. To do this, Matthew references the autobiography of Teresa and her first Spiritual Testimony while bringing in John’s teachings on the subject as they often complement one another. The guys will consider the practices of vocal prayer and silent prayer, looking at the different contemplatives understanding of each, while seeking to understand how we might find some balance between the two categories of prayer. This episode will also discuss different types of "prayer" as taught by Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross. Such as the Prayer of recollection, the prayer of quiet, the prayer of rapture, And the prayer of union. As well as the different types of visions and locutions one may experience in these different types of prayer. Other topics touched on are on the role of visions, hearing God, and having supernatural encounters in one’s journey towards greater union with God.____________________________________________________________________________________Help Support The Channel through a one time gift or a monthly contribution.https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=GC2Z86XHHG4X6____________________________________________________________________________________Study Guide:https://theremnantradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Contemplative-prayer.pdfSelected Readings:https://theremnantradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Autobiography-and-Testimony-of-Teresa-of-Avila.pdf____________________________________________________________________________________Encounter Jesus School: Storehouse Churchhttps://www.storehousedallas.com/ejs Subscribe to The Remnant Radio newsletter and receive our FREE introduction to spiritual gifts eBook. sola scriptura: scripture alone with Dr. Jordan Cooper
sola scriptura: scripture alone with Dr. Jordan CooperChristians ought to submit to the authority given to us by Christ, Pastors, elders, teachers, etc. But what happens when those in authority teach things contrary to the Word of God? Is there a higher court to which we can appeal? The answer is yes. The appeal is the appeal of sola scriptura. "Sola Scriptura" is a phrase that sounds foreign to western ears. In Latin, the phrase means "only Scripture" or "Scripture alone." It was one of the five Solas articulated by the Protestant Reformation. But what is the significance of this phrase? Sola Scriptura is the idea that the Bible is the final authority on what Christians believe and how we live. In this video, Dr. Jordan Cooper from the "Just & Sinner" podcast is coming on the show to help us understand the growing need for sola scriptura in our day. We will also give some biblical reasons to support Sola Scriptura and deal with some Catholic rebuttals to it. I hope you all enjoy.____________________________________________________________________________________Help Support The Channel through a one time gift or a monthly contribution.https://www.paypal.com/donate/?token=q_axItbrn0dkOH-ZMyaMavehY5K9b-2bTtPCCobFWDxdLztVRAjeTtilGHL9CTQNyZ0zVW&country.x=US&locale.x=US____________________________________________________________________________________Dr. Jordan Cooper's Youtube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/user/SemperReformanda1517____________________________________________________________________________________Sola Scriptura Study Guidehttps://theremnantradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Scripture-Athority-and-sufficancy-.pdf Subscribe to The Remnant Radio newsletter and receive our FREE introduction to spiritual gifts eBook. Origen of Alexandria [How did Origen read the Bible] : With Josh Hoffert and Matthew Esquivel
In this episode of The Remnant Radio my two buddies Josh Hoffert and Matthew Esquivel Join Micheal Roundtree and me to discuss the hermeneutical pattern of Origen of Alexandria. Tonight we will ask questions like "How did Origen read the bible, was Origen's pattern of hermeneutics unique to the culture he lived in, and how was it that Origen's patter of hermeneutics was able to so greatly impact the early church. It is well known that Origen saw a "spiritual meaning" beyond the plain reading of the text. Is this something Christians should likewise strive for, or is this something we should avoid?" We will discuss this and more tonight on Remnant Radio. ____________________________________________________________________________________Help Support The Channel through a one time gift or a monthly contribution.https://www.paypal.com/donate/?token=q_axItbrn0dkOH-ZMyaMavehY5K9b-2bTtPCCobFWDxdLztVRAjeTtilGHL9CTQNyZ0zVW&country.x=US&locale.x=US____________________________________________________________________________________(READ MORE)https://theremnantradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Origen.pdfOrigins On First Principleshttps://amzn.to/2uOvtyLOrigen: An Exhortation to Martyrdom, Prayer, and Selected Workshttps://amzn.to/3akfyao Subscribe to The Remnant Radio newsletter and receive our FREE introduction to spiritual gifts eBook.
