BMT 87: Travel Game Show with Bloggers Gloria Atanmo and Leah Davis
Back by popular demand: another travel game show! Join me today as I catch up with two female bloggers: Gloria Atanmo from The Blog Abroad and Leah Davis from The Sweetest Way. While we are usually all traveling in different parts of the world, the three of us have all been in the same place together for one random holiday, you’ll have to listen to hear that story. Grab a drink and get ready to laugh as we ask each other questions about our travels, our habits, our preferences, and more. These questions are randomly selected from a list of generic travel questions as well as from a list provided by our own BMT Community. BMT 83: Hitchhiking and Couchsurfing Through Europe with Brendan Lee
Brendan Lee used to be an accountant in New Zealand, that is, until he decided to volunteer in Tanzania and not go home afterwards. He's been on the road for several years, traveling solo, collecting friends and experiences and writing about them on his blog. While his adventures on the road have been plenty, he's here today to share with us about five months he spent hitchhiking through Europe in 2016. He has detailed notes about how much he spent, broken down by category, topped with his best advice for how you can do it too. BMT 82: South America by Motorcycle with Casey Wong
Casey Wong bought a motorcycle and shipped it to South America, where he proceeded to ride it from Colombia to Argentina, on his own. In Ecuador he ran into a friend of mine, which prompted an introduction to me and eventually a few beers in person as he passed through Bariloche, where I happened to be living in Argentina. With the notorious Patagonian winds, questionable roads, and oncoming winter, I worried about his safety as he continued south. A year later, we get to hear the complete story of Casey's motorcycle adventures through South America, including best resources for traveling motorcyclists, how to ship a bike to South America, logistics and advice for the road, and what Casey always, always kept in stock on his bike, no matter what sort of challenges he faced. BMT 81: Exploring the Americas by Car with Ford Quarterman
Ford pulled out of his driveway in Georgia in October 2015 to start driving his truck down the Pan-American Highway, all the way to the end of the world in Patagonia, Argentina. He is on a mission to break stereotypes between Latinos and Gringos (Americans), live & experience first-hand cultural experiences, find the best adventures, learn Spanish, and show that America is a continent and not a country. His journey is meant to be shared, through the internet or if he has a seat available in his car, in real life! BMT 80: #Vanlife with Photographer Andy Austin
One year ago, Montana photographer Andy Austin bought a converted van and moved his life onto the road. Since then he has chased countless sunrises and sunsets, dealt with check engine lights, had coffee over campfires, and collected endless stories under the stars, sometimes down by the river, sometimes in Walmart parking lots. Today, he joins us on the show to share the highs and lows of the not-always-glamorous experience he wouldn't exchange for anything: the reality behind the romanticized #vanlife. BMT 79: Travel Game Show with Podcasters Derek Loudermilk and Hayden Lee
Game show? Yes! Because I love games, I am going to be hosting travel themed game shows more regularly on the BMT podcast. For each game show episode, I will have guests who work in the travel industry, whether they are bloggers, podcasters, or other travel media influencers, all of whom are well-experienced in travel, with plenty of stories and advice to share. We will take turns answering randomly selected questions about travel experiences and preferences, some of which were asked by YOU in the BMT Community. Some are light and fun, some are big and serious, all are entertaining. Today's guests are Derek Loudermilk, host of the Art of Adventure podcast, and Hayden Lee, host of Travel Stories Podcast. Hayden is also our audio engineer for the BMT podcast, so for the first time, we get to hear his voice on the show! Join us for a round of laughs, interesting facts about ourselves as travelers, thoughts about travel, stories, advice, and more. BMT 78: Breaking Free of the Script - Fast Forward Two Years with John Owed (Part 2)
Two years ago, John Owed declared (on the podcast) his intent to break away from his office job to explore the world and realign his daily life with his personal priorities. He is from Ohio and was working with a company in Australia at the time. According to him, his life was a script written by someone else. After his declaration and change of mindset, he rewrote everything, and he's here to share about his last two years of establishing himself on his own in Australia, and even meeting the girl of his dreams.
