Douglas Campbell on Pauline Dogmatics, Gospel, Myth, and Non-Violent Justice

New Testament scholar Douglas Campbell joins David Gornoski in a fascinating discussion on Pauline dogmatics and its effect on our worldview. What is the starting point of theology? Campbell says that dogmatics start from the statement "Jesus is Lord." For us to know who the historical Jesus actually was, Campbell suggests that we start with the writings of Paul. The conversation then moves to the parallels between the gospels and mythological narratives. One thing that's often overlooked, David says, is how similar the gospel narrative is to the ancient myths and how that similarity surprisingly results in opposite effects from both. How can a Christian address the dark side of history? "For a Christian, the means is the end," Campbell says while highlighting the non-violent medium of Jesus' message. How can we apply Jesus' non-violent ethos to the places we often overlook? Is Jesus winning when we observe history unpacking right before us? Listen to the full podcast to find out and more. Dr. Yu on Hidden Magnetic Universe, Jeff Deist on Coercive Culture - A Neighbor's Choice

Dr. Weiping Yu returns for another segment of Science and U to reflect on the continuing discovery that magnetic fields permeate much of the cosmos. Dr. Yu makes the astonishing claims that even consciousness is coexisting with the universe's magnetism in the same nature. The physicist also comments on the story that molten salt solutions may supply scientists with new insights into nuclear energy. Also returning to the show is Mises' Institute's Jeff Deist who points to how lockdowns, riots, economic depression, and media gaslighting are causing Americans across the country to have nervous breakdowns. On the defeatist mentality that people are expressing right now, Deist says: "Fatalism goes hand-in-hand with coercion." How can we avoid getting into the bad reciprocity of politicizing everything and making everyday life impossible to cherish? How can we be optimistic in this culture of coercion? What About Covid? - A Neighbor's Choice

Host David Gornoski recaps how the media, hand-in-hand with government, is silencing voices of dissent and dividing the masses. "You can have thousands gathering in protests but you can't have ten people gathering in a church!" David remarks as he highlights the double standards at play. But what happens when the economy is shattered and the average Joe is left with no means to make a living? The government's solution, of course, is to print money out of thin air which further devalues our purchasing power. We have to have the courage to say that these 'experts' got it wrong, just like they got nutrition and justice wrong. Listen to the full episode for all this and more. Dr. Max Zamilov on America's Coming Technological Renaissance (Part 2), David Gornoski on Economic Stagnation - A Neighbor's Choice

Dr. Max Zamilov and David Gornoski continue their discussion on the similarities and dissimilarities between Russia and America. David highlights how America inherited the common law outlook from the British through the founding fathers. But private property seems to be an illusion, says Dr. Zamilov, when we have to pay taxes to the government. Dr. Zamilov highlights how taxation is less stringent in Russia despite corruption. "As long as enough people have their moral compasses in the right place we won't fall into utter corruption," Dr. Zamilov remarks. How can America achieve a renaissance in technological innovation? Dr. Zamilov says that innovation simply must take place concretely in the right areas. Listen to the full episode for all of this plus an excellent monologue by David Gornoski on the hindrance imposed by the Federal Reserve system on our economy and how the abandonment of the American dream has led to this. Dr. Max Zamilov on America's Coming Technological Renaissance (Part 1) - A Neighbor's Choice

Nuclear scientist Dr. Max Zamilov joins the show to discuss why America is the land of free enterprise and what made him decide to immigrate here. Dr. Zamilov describes the situation in Russia during the nineties when corruption was rampant and how it hasn't changed much today. What lessons can America learn from the former Soviet Union? The conversation moves towards whether unregulated markets are really the way forward seeing how the oligarchs, after the fall of the USSR, exploited Russia's natural resources. If there are no regulations, how can we shake off our reliance on China as a manufacturing hub? The answer to this should clearly be the total scrapping of taxation on domestic businesses. How can America replicate the manufacturing boom it experienced in the sixties? Listen to the full episode to find out and more. Scott Horton on the NY Times Story on Afghanistan Russian Bounties - A Neighbor's Choice

Scott Horton of antiwar.com returns to the show to comment on the NY Times story of alleged Russian bounties in Afghanistan. Who are these anonymous intelligence sources which the media cite? Horton asks. Is there any servicemen deaths attributed to these bounties? Horton also points to the fact that the American government has been paying billions to the shadow government of the Taliban as protection money. What could be the reason for the concoction of this story by the establishment? How can the mainstream media be trusted when it ignores the American government's backing of Saudi Arabia's war in Yemen? Horton reminds us with examples of Iraq, Syria, and Libya that lying and drumming for war is nothing new for the media and political institutions.
