Then, Carla Hendricks joins Suzie Lind in our interview segment to discuss her work as a volunteer advocate team leader for the non-profit Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children in Nashville.

September 8, 2021 Careless Scriptures
Misquoting the Bible is a bi-partisan political tradition as old as kissing babies and speeches at Labor Day picnics. Journey Now’s roundtable crew asks why our leaders keep trying to quote scripture—and messing up the message. Should we expect better? Is this just pandering, or do these moments reveal more about the hearts and minds of the political speaker?
In this episode’s second half, Journey Now elder Ty Hasty shares how his non-profit, service trip organization, IC13, has continued to make a difference in the time of COVID. Suzie Lind hosts the discussion.

September 1, 2021 The Morals of Our Story
A postcard arrived in many local mailboxes this week advertising a Christian rally to stop the moral decline of America. That got our roundtable panel talking: Is America in moral decline? Should the church be defining morals? And, what, if any, is the church’s role in standing athwart history and yelling “stop?”
Then, in Suzie Lind’s interview segment, pastor Brittany Park of Remembrance Community Church shares what she’s learning about rest as she visits Nashville on a sabbatical.

August 4, 2021 Chapter And Verse
A listener asks our roundtable panel: How can we know the Bible is true and complete? Then, it’s date night with the Linds, as Suzie and Steve talk with their good friends, Dave and Victory Ludwig about the connection that grew from a weekly “date night” swap in which they took turns watching each other's kids. After years, the result has been stronger relationships and deep friendships.

July 28, 2021 Facts, Lies and Twitter Lies
News has never before had such an informal relationship with the truth. How can Jesus followers engage online responsibly, and what obligations do we have to dig deeper on the facts before we retweet, repost, like or love? The Journey NOW roundtable gang takes on gossip in a Facebook age. Then, Matt and Sarah Hammitt join Suzie Lind to talk about working through grief and conflict in the face of suffering. Their third child, Bowen, was born more than 10 years ago with hypo plastic left heart syndrome, a condition in which half of the heart is severely underdeveloped.
Read more at the Hammitt’s blog, bowensheart.com, where you can also learn more about the Hammitt’s foundation, their recent documentary feature and a recent appearance on Good Morning America.

July 21, 2021 Hell, If We Know
What is hell, and why would a loving God want you, your loved ones—or even those who never encountered Him in their lives on Earth—to be banished there? Host Mike Erre and the Journey roundtable panel look at competing views of the afterlife and try to reconcile them with their own understanding of Jesus.
In our interview segment, Fran Maynard of Tennessee Alliance for Kids shares a difficult upbringing that led to amazing experiences as an adoptive and foster parent—and to her current non-profit work.
