Mike and Journey’s Student Pastor, Rob Gonzalez, join host Kevin Dixon to examine this difficult teaching from the Sermon on The Mount and to examine their own relationships with money, things and generosity.

May 12, 2022 The Parent Trap
How does it redefine our image of a good parent--and our prayers--when we pray to God as “our father?” Betsy Raney, Tim Timmons and Mike Erre join host Kevin Dixon to examine what we can learn from Jesus’ model prayer from the Sermon On The Mount. And, how does it change our image of God as a parent when Jesus says in John 14:9 that "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father?"

April 21, 2022 Kingdom Come?
To understand Jesus’ Upside Down Kingdom, we have to start with what the phrase "Kingdom of God" actually means. Is it something that’s coming in the future, or is it already here? Is the Church God’s Kingdom? Mike Erre joins host Kevin Dixon to consider different views of the Kingdom of God and how that affects the way we read the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).

April 7, 2022 Living into Grace
Kevin, Mike, and Suzie have a conversation around grace in response to a question from the Gathering on Sunday: "What would you say to one who has worked to tear down their 'tower' through counseling/spiritual healing in order for them to build it back up in a healthier way?' Also, what is grace, anyway? Are the definitions we have sufficient for grace? How do we live into the grace we've been given and into who we already are in Christ?

April 1, 2022 What Is Love?
With apologies to classic rock fans, Jesus' Sermon on The Mount teaches us that love is more than a feeling. Suzie Lind and Mike Erre join host Kevin Dixon to explore questions from our current teaching series, the Upside Down Kingdom. This week, a question about love and shame leads them into a discussion of how different Jesus' idea of love is from our common, pop-cultural understanding. So, how can we rid ourselves of cultural biases and hear His message as it was intended?

March 17, 2022 By God
What does it mean when Jesus cautions us in his "Upside Down Kingdom" not to attach God's name to empty things (Matthew 5:33-37). As we learned in Sunday's Gathering, it's easy--and tempting--to invoke God when express our own opinions and desires. Phrases like "I have a word for you," "God told me" and "we are being led" can become tools of religious power and manipulation. Where does that leave us, though, when we really do have visions and hear God's voice? Mike Erre, Suzie Lind and Tim Timmons share some of their own experiences as they explore these questions.
