Jesus told lots of stories and had many words of wisdom for those who would listen. Today's lesson is about how people who love and follow Him should live and treat others.

There was more than one prodigal in the house. Let's talk about the one who never left. The elder son had trouble celebrating the younger son's return, and really didn't want to go into the party that his father was throwing. He had some issues that he was dealing with...like thinking he deserved a party, and he should be the one celebrated and not his lousy brother who had brought so much shame to the family. When the younger son in a FAR COUNTRY decides to arise and go home...He's not as far away from the father as he thinks he is. When we realize everything good that we have is given to us by grace because everyone of us is like the prodigal son, we are filled with a deep gratitude and joy for God alone who gives what no one deserves. When we embrace HIS grace and know we were undeserving, we get more joy than we ever could by lying to ourselves thinking that we deserve anything good from God.
