In today’s episode, I will discuss the Wealth Pyramid.  The Wealth Pyramid provides a great example to build a solid foundation for a well-structured wealth plan. This Wealth Pyramid is something that anyone can structure for themselves regardless of income level and net worth. So many people do not build their wealth pyramid with a solid foundation and risk all of their capital because of this. We look at the concepts of saving, investing and much more.   Bestselfco., Make Success a Habit! The second layer is your conservative layer that includes a dashboard for your financial information, your credit score and strategies to improve your credit score, flexible spending plan, wealth capture strategies to capture your wealth and save 6 months to 2 years of income in liquid savings, protective strategies like life insurance, car insurance, home owners insurance, estate planning, tax planning and emergency preparedness strategies like food, water and other needs as well as cash on hand and precious metals The third layer consist out of moderate strategies that include businesses that you control, conservative real estate investments, conservative paper assets like certain bonds, and more precious metals The fourth and final layer at the top of the pyramid is the growth portion of your plan. If you have the first three layers in order,  this layer allows you to swing for the fences in business, real estate, commodities and paper assets. The harder someone tries to convince you to trust him, the less you should. However good a track record someone has, never believe that he/she can’t suddenly start losing your money. In fact, if you are like me, the moment you invest will be the moment his/her track record starts falling apart. All markets rise and fall. Don’t ever believe anyone who assures you that they can predict the future. If you don’t learn to spend less than you make, you will never have peace of mind. Most of what you buy when your income is above $100,000 is discretionary. Don’t fool yourself into thinking you need a big house or a fancy car. In making financial projections for yourself or a business, always create three scenarios: one that shows what things will look like if everything goes as hoped; one that shows what will happen if things are mediocre; and one that shows what will happen if things fall apart. Know that the third scenario is optimistic. In today’s episode, I discuss Parkinson's Law. Norcote Parkinson wrote a book called Parkinson’s Law where he isolates some limitations of us all and particularly focuses in on the behavior of individuals within a group. In Parkinson’s Law he writes, “Work expands to meet the time envelope allowed.” Meaning if we have 5 days to complete a task, it will take us 5 days to complete the task. If we were allowed 30 days to complete the same task, we would take 30 days to complete the task. Parkinson’s law also states that, “a luxury, once enjoyed, becomes a necessity” and “expenses rise equal to income” In a financial context, we can define Parkinson’s Law as: the more you earn, the more you spend. When our income increases, our expenses rise to meet or exceed that increase. We are always working against Parkinson’s Law. Bestselfco., Make Success a Habit! You can set up a separate account in which you can make weekly or monthly deposits. These deposits can be set as a fixed amount or a percentage of the money you earn. This will ensure that a percentage of very dollar that comes into your personal economy is automatically captured in a separate account.
