On this episode of the Journeywomen podcast I had the privilege of chatting with my friend and former mentor, Matt Lantz on the theology of identity. Matt is a husband, father, and pastor who lives in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife and three children. He’s a graduate of TCU and Dallas Theological Seminary and has been working in full-time ministry since 2000 preparing the way for the Lord Jesus in the lives of men and women. Matt was the founding director of a discipleship program called the Forge at Pine Cove where he spent 12 years helping young men and women learn their identity and steward it well. He has recently moved on from the Forge and is now serving as the Recruitment and Development Pastor at Christ Chapel Bible Church in Fort Worth. On this episode of the Journeywomen podcast I’m interviewing Lexy Sauvé. Lexy and her family live in Ogden, Utah, where God’s called her to be a helper to her husband Brian, a homemaker, and momma to three precious babies. She also serves alongside her husband in ministry at Refuge Church in Riverdale, Utah. As Contributing Editor for Deeply Rooted, Lexy spends a lot of time behind the scenes writing articles and excerpts for the website and magazine. She also reviews submissions, conducts interviews, and brainstorms new ideas for the magazine and website. If I could go back in time and start the Journeywomen podcast over again, I would one hundred percent begin here. Today on Journeywomen I had the privilege of interviewing my friend Laura Wifler of the Risen Motherhood podcast. We talk about everything from how the Gospel relates to decorating to spray painting curtain rods. Laura has been married for six years, is a mother to three precious little ones and is currently in the process of adopting two more from Eastern Europe. Her writing on motherhood and lifestyle has been featured on popular sites such as BabyCenter, DesignSponge and Scary Mommy. Currently, Laura is co-founder and co-host of Risen Motherhood, a ministry and podcast for women who are striving for gospel-centered motherhood. Laura likes her coffee black, going on hikes, dabbling in DIY and decorating, reading books with real pages to turn, and having impromptu dance parties in the kitchen with her children. I cannot wait for you guys to hear from her on the topic of decorating today!Laura has the beautiful ability to tether something as seemingly trite as home decor to the beautiful truths of the Gospel. On this episode of the Journeywomen podcast I’m interviewing Amy Waters, a Licensed Professional Counselor, Women’s Bible Study leader, disciple maker, and self-proclaimed theology junkie. Amy spent nearly 10 years on staff at Pine Cove as a Conference Director and it was there that God gave her a passion for ministering to women and families. She earned a Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2011 and is currently counseling at the Alethia Counseling Center in Tyler, TX.Amy and I are discussing how we as women can relate to our emotions. I’ve been planning this interview since the idea for the Journeywomen podcast was born many months ago. To be honest, I felt really awkward coming off of this recording, but I listened to Amy and I’s conversation while editing I realized that my own discomfort stemmed from the fact that I personally struggle to relate to my emotions. Brooks and I live in a culture where emotion isn’t admonished and I think I’m a little out of touch with my emotions these days. My chat with Amy was enlightening, helpful, and challenging. Today I’m interviewing my friend Katelyn Sullins on the topic of discipleship. Katelyn is a pursuer of delight, cultivating reflections of the God in whom it is found. She lives in Tyler, TX with her husband, Tyler, who is a counselor and her precious dog, River. Katelyn is the current Forge Women’s director at Pine Cove. I’ve watched her make disciples in a variety of contexts and know that we all have a lot to learn from her. This is one of my favorite topics in all the world and I can't wait to share our chat with you today! I get so fired up talking about discipleship and have absolutely experienced what Katelyn was talking about when she said that discipleship is a mutual transformation.
