Feels Like Home

My dad gave me a lovely compliment today when he was over for a cup of tea and piece of banana bread - he said that my home is inviting and relaxing and 'feels like home'.And it got me thinking about watching "With love, Meaghan" on Netflix this week and how having a home where people feel welcome and relaxed is such a beautiful goal - above having it perfect, or minimalist or styled etc. That how you feel in your home, and how others feel in your home is more important than if the paint is outdated or the dishes don't match.Have a think about what helps you feel like your house is a home, both for you and your guests. Forget what other people, or the media might tell you is important - what is important to you? And go for that! Enjoying your home isn't about it being perfect, or always clean, or always having fresh cookies, it's about how you feel and how you want to feel. You've got this!Join our community Leave a Google ReviewFollow me on InstagramFollow me on FacebookJoin my Facebook groupLeave a review on Apple PodcastThank you to my sound engineer, Jarred from Four4ty Studio. Text Books

I have a pile of text books which have been sitting in my office for the last 4 months - they are texts that we thought my youngest would need, however in the 2 years since my eldest did the exact same subjects, the school has changed the edition or publisher of the text books and require students to have a copy of the new ones. So we have 8 text books in near new condition that nobody wants. And it's a dilemna for me - I can't find anywhere to donate them and feel bad throwing them out - a challenge many of my clients feel not only about their text books, but about many items in their house in general.So... for me I'll offer them to the school and if nobody wants them I will recycle them... unless a listener reaches out and can share a charity who sends texts overseas to developing schools!!If you too are struggling to get rid of text books, here are some tipsSell or donate them as soon as you're finished with them to have a higher chance of them being reused by someone elseSee if the school or college would like them to share with students who can't afford their own text booksAnd ultimately - recycle them if you can't get rid of them. You won't read them again and they're a big burden to lug around for the next 25 years!Join our community Leave a Google ReviewFollow me on InstagramFollow me on FacebookJoin my Facebook groupLeave a review on Apple PodcastThank you to my sound engineer, Jarred from Four4ty Studio Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Shoes

It's common for most homes to be a bit stuck on where to store shoes - for two reasons...our homes don't generally come with any designated shoe storagewe have WAY too many pairs of shoes!I encourage you today to declutter shoes which are too small, you don't wear anymore, have holes, are uncomfortable etc. And then when you see how many shoes you have left, be really intentional about how you are going to store your shoes. Maybe they belong at the bottom of your wardrobe on a shoe rack or in a catch all tub. Maybe you have storage at your front or back door. The key is to use the system you have, and if it's really not working, design something new. Most important is that you stick with the system once you have it in place. Build those habits of putting your shoes away and you'll never be late again because you can't find your shoes!Join our community Become a Patron – your monthly donation makes a huge difference to me being able to produce this podcast.
