1. Renovation of the Heart | John Ortberg
We’re going through a classic book together, Renovation of the Heart, by Dallas Willard. Dallas actually offers us an invitation on page one of the book. He invites us to answer the beckoning call of Jesus, to join the alluring world the New Testament offers us. There is only one prerequisite: Come thirsty.Supporting Scripture:John 4:14 says, “...but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”Main Idea:If you’ve ever found yourself in the midst of unsatisfying desires, in disappointing circumstances that this earth can bring, Jesus says, “Come.”With Him, we’ll never thirst again.Remember this invitation, and let’s embark on this journey together.Reflection: What things in this life are making you thirsty right now? On a side note: after watching the video, did you have to Google, “belly whomp”? Give some thought to Jesus’ command when he tells us to love God with all our hearts, and souls, and minds, and strength. And to love our neighbor as ourselves. How are you doing with that direction? What area is God calling you to renew?
