Food for Thought
Food can be such a funny thing! We can love it and we can dislike it, but we all have to eat it! This is why food is such an important topic when it comes to learning more about our ADHD brain! Did you know that the food we choose to eat can affect our behavior, mood, and overall emotional regulation! It's tricky when one is picky, the texture isn't quite right, or the appetite isn't there due to a side affect of medication. It's easy to fall into a habit of eating easy foods that just fill the body, but too often the food choices aren't helping our minds! This episode is meant as a conversation starter to begin talking about what type of eater you are and what is being put in your body each day. There is zero shame attached, only an opportunity to self-reflect, learn, and grow! Next week, we will be hearing from two dietary experts (follow them on IG @nourished.beginnings.kids) who specialize in working with kids who have ADHD! They are passionate about helping kids who may be picky eaters, and others who simply need to make better food choices to decrease ADHD struggles and increase daily success! Message me to share your child's story and voice as they discover more about their brilliant ADHD brain! You can also message me to order a personalized copy of my children's book, "Hi, It's Me! I have ADHD" www.katelynmabry.com or katelynmabry4@gmail.com

Practice Makes Progress Not Perfect: ADHD and Perfectionism
"Practice makes perfect" has always been a phrase that drives me bonkers because it's just not true!!! NO ONE is or ever will be perfect! We all make mistakes and then are faced with the choice of how to respond to our mistakes! Who else here struggles with perfectionism? You may even have it and you don't even realize it's a struggle! Often times kids are asked to "try harder" or told that they are making "careless mistakes" and over time, this can lead to becoming a perfectionist because of fear of failure or simply not wanting to make a mistake and upset someone. In this episode, you will hear from Patricia Sung, who has ADHD like we do and she is on a mission to help other mamas with ADHD through her podcast titled, "Motherhood in ADHD." You may be wondering why she's on a podcast for kids with ADHD and the answer is simple...she was a teacher for 7 years to kids from grade 4th-7th and has a passion for sharing her own journey through childhood with ADHD. One of her biggest challenges has been battling being a perfectionist. She shares about the kind of armor she found helpful as an ADHD warrior and uses a great visual of becoming a scientist as we face new things! You can find Patricia at www.patriciasung.com to learn more about the support she offers and resources she provides. You can visit www.katelynmabry.com to message me about being a guest on this podcast, give topic ideas, or just share how this podcast has been helpful to you! Thank you and have a great day!
