On day 5 of the Voiz Academy x UCL Animal Rights Society Sustainable Food Summit we spoke with Ryan Zinn from Dr. Bronner's and Monika Firl from Cooperative Coffees. Moderated by Summer Wyatt-Buchan and Alexandra Nikolin. Could you live without coffee or chocolate?... we didn't think so. Join us as we explore the sustainability of two luxury products that we know we cannot live without: chocolate and coffee. We know that these industries have a lot of issues and could be doing a lot more for sustainability. Dr Bronner's and CO-OP Coffee will shine a light on how they are leading a guilt free coffee and chocolate experience. We discuss sustainable practices in chocolate and coffee businesses, regenerative agriculture, organic farming, social justice and tools we can use to determine if products are actually sustainable. On day 3 of the of the Sustainable Food Summit we had a conversation with Henry Rowlands from The Detox Project and Sustainable Pulse on how corporations are taking over our food supplies. We discussed the increasing pros of chemicals within plant based and animal based products, and what this means for consumers. Toxic chemicals are in our food system. They kill weeds, they kill bees, what do they do to us? Join Voiz Academy, UCL Animal Rights Society and Henry Rowlands of the The Detox Project as we discuss the toxic chemicals in our food system and the impact that pesticides such as glyphosate have on us at the planet. On day 1 of the Sustainable Food Summit we interviewed Isabel Maternowski, who's family opened a vegan meat line called Nutcase Vegan, Anna Gossard, who's family incorporates sustainable practices in their farming, and Cori Ana Strell, a student who started her own sustainable company called Wexbees. We are at a critical moment in human history and there could be a way to eat food that heals the planet. We call this “The regenerative diet”.  The finale of the Voiz Academy x UCL Animal Rights Society Sustainable Food Summit discusses the need for the move to regenerative agriculture. The oceans have often been overlooked so this conversation brings to light some of the important issues provided by this important ecosystem and whether vegan seafood has potential. Speaker: Melissa Cronin is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Conservation Action Lab at UC Santa Cruz studying Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with a Designated Emphasis in Coastal Science & Policy. Previously, she was a journalist covering science, the environment, wildlife crime and trafficking, and politics. Voiz is a collective of college students with a joint drive towards sustainability.
