The death of COVID will lead to an explosion in these stocks

We have a few fun topics to kick off the show: Daniel highlights the PGA tour in Scottsdale, Arizona this week… And I’m boasting a new look after a haircut didn’t go as planned. [0:30] As COVID cases trend lower, states like California and New York have begun to lift mask mandates and related restrictions. I highlight one group of stocks set to soar as everyone cheers the end of COVID. [2:40] After reporting weak earnings last week, Meta (FB) gave back a year’s worth of gains… in two trading sessions. Daniel, who’s been bullish on this name through COVID, shares his takeaway, both from a fundamental and an emotional perspective… And I highlight what I’d need to see to add to my own position. [11:48] Cannabis grower Canopy Growth (CGC) caught my attention with its earnings. I share why I’m intrigued by this space… and why I’d look to trade cannabis stocks vs. holding them long-term. [20:05] Finally, I answer some of your questions on our security, which officially began trading on the (Alternative Trading System) under the ticker CURZ. [28:45] Enjoyed this episode? Why the move to ‘go green’ is complete bulls***

Over the weekend, I attended my daughter’s gymnastic competition... and found out (once again) why the saying “happy wife, happy life” is accurate. [0:30] It’s a huge week here at Curzio Research. Yesterday, our security began trading on the tZERO ATS (Advanced Trading System). I share why investors should dig into the security token space… and how it’s disrupting Wall Street’s old ways of raising capital. [4:30] The opportunity in security tokens reminds me of several other revolutionary trends—from fracking to the Internet of Things (IoT)... And it benefits both issuers and investors. [7:35] Moving on, the Fed’s coming rate hikes aren’t priced into the markets. I highlight why the Fed won’t be able to control inflation… [17:35] But as inflation moves higher, one left-for-dead sector is booming: traditional energy. I break down why the push to green energy is backfiring… and how to gain exposure to this space. [20:50] The volatility we’re seeing right now is no joke… Some of the biggest stocks, from Meta (FB) to Amazon (AMZN), are moving 20% in a day—and moves like these are likely our “new normal.” [25:50] So, as we all adjust, I want to thank you, my listeners. We try very hard to help individual investors here at Curzio Research, and I genuinely appreciate all your support and feedback. [31:30]

How to get exposure to the best shipping companies in the world

Frank Holmes, CEO and chief investment officer of U.S. Global Investors, is back on Wall Street Unplugged. We kick things off by discussing the pullback in the markets… Frank explains why he believes the selloff is nearing a bottom… and why he doesn’t expect interest rates to rise significantly this year. [2:00] Frank recently launched his own exchange-traded fund: the U.S. Global Sea to Sky Cargo ETF (SEA)—which gives investors access to some of the best shipping companies in the world. He highlights why everyone should have exposure to this sector right now… and how he picks assets for the fund. [4:40] Turning to gold, I ask why gold prices aren’t higher right now given the favorable market conditions. Frank breaks down how gold prices can be manipulated… and shares a strategy from the crypto-mining “playbook” that gold miners should start using. [14:05] As executive chairman of crypto mining firm HIVE Blockchain Technologies, Frank knows a lot about this subject. He highlights how gamers are making some serious money off of crypto… HIVE’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy for its mining operations… and the massive growth his firm is seeing. [21:20] He also explains the different types of chips used for mining particular cryptos… [29:30] Next, Frank breaks down the difference between “proof of work” (PoW) and “proof of stake” (PoS)... and why fears over Ethereum’s switch from the former to the latter are overblown. [39:00] We wrap up with Frank comparing the short-term headwinds for crypto vs. the long-term tailwinds… and why he expects prices to move much higher over time. [44:40] Enjoyed this episode? After 12 years… numbers finally matter

Earnings season is underway… and after more than a decade, the results actually seem to matter to investors. Shares of Netflix (NFLX) are moving higher on strong earnings and huge insider buying. Daniel and I give our take on co-CEO Reed Hastings’ “perfect timing” in scooping up shares… and whether Netflix will be able to maintain its dominant position as competition in the streaming space heats up. [0:45] UPS (UPS) is also moving to the upside after reporting blowout numbers, despite seeing higher costs in the quarter. I explain why, despite the rise in its stock price, the company is still trading at a reasonable valuation. [10:00] Daniel takes a small victory lap as his recommendation, ExxonMobil (XOM), trades near 52-week highs following earnings. (It’s up about 30% in the portfolio.) He breaks down how the push to “green energy” will actually drive oil higher… and ExxonMobil will continue to benefit. [14:00] Joe Rogan is sparking a heated debate over COVID “information” on Spotify, with artists pulling their music from the platform. I give my take on the drama… and whether Spotify (SPOT) is a buy at current levels given the negative press. [21:25] Turning to crypto, Meta Platforms (FB)—formerly Facebook—is ending its Diem stablecoin efforts… and selling the assets to  Silvergate Capital (SI). I highlight why I love this move by Meta… and Daniel shares why it’s great for Silvergate. [31:50]

Hundreds of thousands of assets are about to be tokenized

Big news: Our Curzio Equity Owners Token (CEO) token begins trading on the tZERO platform next week. I recap our incredible journey with CEO—from being just a wild idea a few years ago… to trading on a U.S.-based exchange. [0:30] But it’s not just our token… Security tokens in general are finally gaining traction across the U.S. In fact, I've been talking with a lot of business owners showing huge interest in following our lead by creating their own. [3:00] I explain why I chose this avenue to grow my business… And why security token offerings (STOs) are a much better alternative to initial public offerings (IPOs), special-purpose acquisition companies (SPACs), or direct listings... [7:25] Finally, I walk through the process of creating a security token… and why I think there will be hundreds of thousands of new ones launched over the next five years. [21:50]

How to “Fed-proof” your portfolio

John Petrides, portfolio manager at Tocqueville Asset Management is back on the podcast to discuss current market volatility… and opportunity. To start, John gives his macro view of current market conditions… breaking down the volatility in growth stocks… interest rates… geopolitical risks… and more. [1:35] He explains why having an investing plan, along with managing expectations, is critical—especially in times like these… and why the current volatility has nothing to do with the market’s fundamentals. [7:54] With interest rates expected to move higher, investors should focus on companies with strong balance sheets… John shares one “boring” investment to protect your portfolio, no matter what the Fed does. [9:05] Thematic investing, which focuses on specific long-term trends, gained a lot of momentum last year—especially in tech and other growth areas. While many of these stocks are significantly off their highs, John reveals why this investing thesis isn’t dead… and some of his favorite “themes” to watch. [10:15] He also explains why he doesn’t think we’re headed for a recession... [17:00] Finally, as interest rates move higher, John points out why investors shouldn’t just focus on the higher number. COVID lies are finally exposed… And that’s bullish for stocks

Daniel and I kick things off by discussing the recent market volatility. While the quickness of the pullback is surprising… investors should expect the large market swings to continue. [1:45] But market pullbacks create opportunities… and I’m seeing way more value in small caps than in large caps. [4:50] Fed Chair Jerome Powell is holding a press conference later today following the January Fed meeting. Here’s what I think he’ll say about rate hikes and inflation. [8:00] This week, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson (R) held a hearing called . Daniel and I share what stood out to us about the hearing… how it broke the mainstream narrative… and why the takeaway is bullish for the markets. [11:05] As economies move past Omicron, Daniel names a few sectors he’s researching… and a stock that will benefit as interest rates and inflation continue higher. [19:35] Microsoft (MSFT) just reported its latest earnings. I highlight the results… and why we’re entering a stock picker’s market. [27:45] Volatility isn’t just in stocks but cryptocurrencies, as well—the price of Bitcoin has fallen about 40% from its all-time high just a couple months ago. But former Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein is still bullish on crypto… Daniel and I break down his recent comments. [30:50] Enjoyed this episode? The best opportunity to buy small caps in a decade

Market volatility is rampant. I break down the wild action so far this week… and why this market is unlike anything we’ve ever seen. [0:30] While I didn't expect this strong of a pullback this quickly, I’ve been warning about risks to the downside. I explain what inflation rates tell us about the possibility of a recession—and why that possibility isn’t as scary as it seems. [6:05] While it may be hard to see through the volatility, this is one of the best times to buy small caps in 10 years… and I expect one small-cap sector to see a major comeback in 2022. (It’s the sector I highlight in this month’s issue of , being released tomorrow.) [12:20]  I compare two growth stocks—Roblox (RBLX) and Rivian (RIVN)—that are selling off hard… and tell you which one I’d buy at current levels. [22:30] Turning to questions… Is now a good time to buy gold and silver stocks? In short, yes. I share why the environment for precious metals is fantastic… and how I would invest in the sector. [31:40] Could the Fed surprise the market and announce an interest rate hike during its meeting this week? I highlight what I expect from the Fed… [34:50] Enjoyed this episode? A no-brainer way to profit from higher gold prices

As you may know by now, ith Frank traveling, I (Daniel) am leading the show this week. Market volatility continues to dominate the headlines, and gold prices are quietly moving higher. I share why it’s a great idea for all investors to have exposure to gold… and a few different ways you can invest… including one stock that’s management team, yield, and operating costs make it an absolute no-brainer. [1:40] My gold thesis somewhat overlaps with my crypto thesis. I highlight why everyone should have exposure to this asset class too… and one of my favorite stocks in the space. [14:15] Frank recently returned from the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. to find out which tech companies every investor should watch in 2022. [21:50] Finally, I share research from a listener who disagreed with . [22:25] Enjoyed this episode? How Microsoft’s megadeal will launch it into the metaverse

I (Daniel) am behind the mic this week as Frank conducts some boots-on-the-ground research into some of his latest ideas. Microsoft (MSFT) is buying gaming giant Activision Blizzard (ATVI) for around $70 billion. I highlight some details around the merger… Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s incredible deal-making track record… and how this deal sets up Microsoft to become a massive player in the metaverse trend. [1:35] And Microsoft isn’t alone… The world’s largest companies are all investing heavily in the metaverse. In fact, Frank just released his 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) , which includes several stocks set to benefit from this massive growth trend over the coming years. [15:40] I explain why MSFT is a great long-term investment… and why I see a potential arbitrage opportunity in ATVI right now. [16:45] As inflation continues to move higher, so does crude oil—it just hit a seven-year high. I break down the current geopolitical risks to the sector… why investors should brace for oil prices to continue rising… and a few names set to profit from higher crude prices.
