E021: Educate Yourself on Plant-Based Health and a Mindful Diet with Marc Wood

What's the real deal about protein? How much does one actually need per day and can we get enough from only eating plants? According Marc Wood, the nightclub boss who decided to go vegan 6 years ago and who started doing Triathlons at age 48, you absolutely can. He's now also a certified nutrition health coach guiding people at the gym how to build muscles and stay healthy on a plant-based diet and lifestyle. Listen to find out why Marc found the vegan route to be an easy choice and learn why plant-based proteins are the future. Marc stopped eating meat at age 23 when he went to see an animal rights convention in Earls Court, London, where he for the first time became aware of the suffering and cruelty animals are subjected to. After eventually meeting a vegan friend several years later who educated him on the dangers of dairy and the cruelty that industry, it was an easy step to skip the T in vegetarian and go fully vegan. From volunteering at the Hospice of New York, Marc witnessed people suffering from a lot of diseases, which got him thinking about why so many people in the western world die from cancers and heart-related problems. He began educating himself on the causes of such diseases and today he's a certified Family Health Coach and helps others by going into their homes and giving lessons on how to cook tasty and nutritious plant-based meals. E020: Easy Steps to Vegan - Tips and Trix from Plant-Based NYC Chef Leonid Rusanov

Want to learn how to make chocolate ice-cream out of sweet potatoes? Then tune into this fun episode with New York model and Vegan Chef Leo Rusanov. As we share the floor in his Harlem apartment we talk about both of our journeys to a plant-based life; how they started, what changes we went through and how it made us feel. We kill some typical "vegan myths" and Leo shares why he at first was afraid of the term "vegan". Are you curious about changing to a plant-based diet but don't really know how? Then I hope this episode can help you get that journey started! Leo is a Russian guy who moved to New York six years ago. When he about 16 months ago (by accident, almost) got introduced to the plant-based kitchen when assisting a chef, he found himself introduced to a whole new world. He got to eat all she prepared and was amazed by how good vegan food could be, and he thought to himself "why should I ever need to eat anything else?" In other words, Leo became vegan simply because he loved the food so much! But being a model and a man, of course, he struggled with some of the doubt that everyone asks themselves. Will I get enough protein? Will I lose a lot of weight? Will I be able to find enough things to eat? Well, listen to find out... Instagram: @VeganChefLeo Facts from the Episode: One thing that vegans might be lacking is B12, and it's essential that you make sure that you get enough. Most groceries of lifestyle stores carry B12 supplements and one pill a day usually makes it (be careful not to buy the ones with gelatine in them though - NOT VEGAN!) There's also one other life-saver out there and it's called Nutritional Yeast - cheesy in its flavor and goes with lot's of food! (Listen to recipes for directions).Stay connected, say hi!Website: www.heychange.netIG: @HeyChange_PodcastHost: @AnneThereseBengtssonWebsite: www.heychangepodcast.comFollow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/heychange_podcast/Host: https://www.instagram.com/annetheresegennari/Hosted by The Climate Optimist: https://www.theclimateoptimist.com/Music produced by Jackson Whalan Hosted on Acast.
