I never felt good enough. From being extremely embarrassed about my speech impediment (that I had through the 5th grade), to sucking at baseball, football, track AND basketball in high school, and my failure to stick with any one job for more than 6 months until I was in my mid-20s... ...I never felt "good enough". It led to heavy drug use at 15 years old... and I mean heavy... 7 days per week, at school, home and work... pushing my body to its limits. It led to a depression that followed me until I was about 30. That horrible feeling of being nothing special drove me to hop on a plane, at 17, literally the day after graduation, to join the Marines in San Diego, against the wishes of my father who served in the Marine Corps through Vietnam, and is haunted to this day from the experience. That deep desire to to become something led to 5 years in the gym....pushing myself to grow from a 135 pound weakling to a lean and mean 200 pounds. That chase, that need, that yearning to be admired, respected, and taken seriously pushed me to study hard, work harder than anyone I've ever known, and eventually become a master at sales... over a period of 20 years. Today, I still feel like I have a lot of room to grow. So I still constantly try to hone my sales skills by selling with the teams I train all over the country... by reading, watching and consuming everything I can about how people make decisions... from the perspectives of biology, psychology, behavioral economics and the other social sciences, neuroscience and neuro-economics and systems thinking. And, I've found something to be proud of. I can undoubtedly say, with 100% confidence and certainty, that I can teach anybody with a will to learn, the ability to sell effectively with ease. I can confidently confess that there is no one else on the planet better equipped to train real estate investors and acquisition agents how to buy houses, direct-from-seller, at deep discounts. That's not something I say without proof or a solid track record to back it up. That's not something I share without a sense of humility and gratefulness." Beka Shea: Engineering Success in Real Estate Click Here To Listen/Download Beka is a wonder woman power house of intelligence and drive. She is SOOO Awesome that we scrapped our original Intro! Beka is going to introduce herself: I'm the youngest of 4 daughters and I grew up in rural Pennsylvania. Being the favorite child has given me an overabundance of confidence, which I use to my advantage quite often. (My sisters will kill me for saying that, but only because it's true. :)). I've always been an exuberantly tenacious person, setting stretch goals and moving on to the next one. Looking back at my life I find certain experiences really stand out, so let's walk down that memory lane. I spent my junior year of high school as a congressional Page, working and living in DC running errands for Congress. It was a truly amazing experience and I'm sad the program doesn't exist anymore. (But the fiscally conservative side of me totally gets it.) I went to WPI for mechanical engineering on an ROTC scholarship, where I met my husband and some of my amazing best friends. When I graduated I became a US Naval Officer. My dream was to be a pilot, but unfortunately my eyes disagreed; instead I served on an Aircraft Carrier. It was a great consolation prize, and even though it was incredibly tough at times, I will treasure it. After about 4 years in the Navy, I got a job as an engineer working in the energy arena, helping to build a power plant to support aircraft carriers stationed in Japan. (There's a theme here.) I felt way out of my league and also incredibly excited to be a part of something so massively cool. I worked with that company for 7 years, and again was fortunate to be around some seriously amazing people. When my 3rd daughter was born, I decided to spend less time traveling and more time at home. We bought our first rehab, which was a hoarder house that we essentially gutted, and I was hooked. Making ugly things pretty is my favorite. The first year I flipped 3 houses, the second year I flipped 6, and then I moved up to one a month and started building out a team to support that. This year we're on track to do 20+ flips and a few wholesales, as well as venturing into the rental arena. Words of wisdom: "One foot in front of the other. You can achieve success that way. CONGRATULATIONS TO ZACHARY and STEPHANIE on their TENTH ANNIVERSARY! This sweet couple met in 2005 in college while working as EMT's. It was love at first sight! Got married and in to flipping distressed homes in 2007. They now live in Charlotte, North Carolina with their three children and a massive Real Estate Empire. Their first deal was their first home together! While Stephanie was dreaming sweet dreams of a perfect house and babies... Zachary ends up convincing her to buy the perfect FORECLOSED HOME!!! Perfectly covered in mold, everything leaking... COMPLETE DISASTER! Zachary carries Stephanie over the threshold of this money maker and there begins their journey. They rode out the market crash on the proceeds of that first flip, went to grad school and started a family. Stephanie is a Nurse Practitioner and Zachary is a Physicians Assistant. These two have DAY JOBS that HELP HUMANITY... as well as a booming REAL ESTATE BUSINESS! In 2014 the Betters made the decision to jump back in. Once they took the incredible synergy of their relationship and focused it on their goals... nothing has stopped them. Last year they did 8 deals... This year they already have 43 on the books!
