How To Build a Crypto Capital Market
Crypto capital markets platform Maple Finance seeks to serve growing and innovative companies that are in need of capital but can’t get it from traditional lenders. It offers undercollateralized lending infrastructure for institutional lenders and corporate borrowers. Co-founder and CEO Sidney Powell joins Ben Whitby, who oversees regulatory affairs at Qredo, to explain how to use blockchain to aggregate capital and to program the distribution and use of money. It’s basically an alternative to traditional technology like the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications (SWIFT) system. Maple’s platform is one of only a few DeFi lending protocols that conforms with required Know Your Customer/Anti-Money Laundering (KYC/AML) standards, a key feature that may attract more institutional attention. Is This Bitcoin Bulls' Last Stand?
Where’s the support for Bitcoin, and what happens if that level fails to hold? Crypto analyst and trader Rekt Capital returns to offer his technical take on the steep retracement for the world’s No. 1 cryptocurrency. Rekt is paying attention to what he calls the “macro range low” because it's "the bulls' last stand." If it’s lost, we’ll likely see a macro distribution phase, where sellers dominate the market. This scenario suggests months of downside before a final capitulation event precedes the next accumulation phase. How low might Bitcoin go in this circumstance? And what's Rekt's strategy? He answers those questions and talks about a lot more with Real Vision’s Ash Bennington. Recorded on May 9, 2022. Follow Rekt Capital on Twitter: https://twitter.com/rektcapital. This Is How DeFi Will Attract Institutions
The people working in DeFi are reimagining the delivery of a key set of human services on-chain. One of them, Ryan Hanley, is Head of Product – DeFi at Elwood Technologies. Ryan joins Qredo's Ben Whitby to talk about why more institutions are allocating capital to this new way of doing business and how Elwood is designing its trading infrastructure to meet rising demand for digital assets. Ryan and Ben also discuss recent developments around custody and “know your customer” compliance, and they explore the privacy risks of storing user data. Although novel because of the newness of the technology, these are all relatively routine steps when it comes to the legal aspects of creating a new industry. Though there’s still more work to be done to make widespread institutional adoption a reality, Hanley is hopeful. As he notes, DeFi will thrive as regulation proceeds and institutions grow more comfortable with crypto’s underlying concepts. Recorded on March 29, 2022. Learn more about your ad choices. Ether-Backed DeFi Platform Offers Interesting Incentives
A reformed lawyer, Liquity founder Robert Lauko met Vitalik Buterin in 2015 in Switzerland. After that fateful encounter, Lauko decided to dedicate his professional time to developing crypto projects. His first venture is a decentralized borrowing protocol with DNA similar to MakerDAO’s but with the Ethereum blockchain as its base layer. Among its intriguing set of incentives, Liquity offers borrowers the opportunity to pay an up-front fee rather than an interest rate over time. Its ability to operate with lower collateralization requirements compared to other protocols is ensured by an efficient liquidation mechanism. This mechanism is based on a stability pool underpinned by its proprietary stablecoin, LUSD. Lauko breaks down LUSD’s functionality, focusing on its different incentives for borrowers and lenders, and explains why Ether backing and redeemability make it special. Recorded on April 11, 2022.
