Google To Accept Crypto Payments Through Coinbase
Google has announced it will start accepting payments in cryptocurrency from some Web3 clients for its cloud services. Such payments will be facilitated by Coinbase through its Coinbase Commerce service, which supports 10 tokens, among them Bitcoin, Ether, Dogecoin, and ApeCoin. In turn, Coinbase will get a cut from each transaction, and the company will move some of its apps from Amazon Web Services to Google Cloud. At the top of today’s Real Vision Crypto Daily Briefing, Ash Bennington welcomes guest host and blockchain analyst Sara Cline to discuss Google's announcement and its significance for the broader crypto industry. Also on the agenda: BNY Mellon, the oldest bank in the U.S., is launching crypto custody services, and another massive DeFi hack has seen $100 million worth of tokens drained from Solana-based platform Mango. Hackers Chisel 2 Million BNB Coins Worth $560 Million
Binance, the largest crypto exchange in the world by trading volume, says it suffered a sizeable hack to its BNB Chain network. Two million BNB tokens were withdrawn (worth approximately $560 million), although Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, better known as CZ, says his team was able to take control of a majority of the funds, holding losses under $100 million. The hacker apparently targeted a vulnerability in a cross-chain bridge. The news came on the same day as new US labor data showed the jobs market remained resilient, sending crypto prices sharply lower. Nico Brugge and Ash Bennington welcome Real Vision co-founder and CEO Raoul Pal for a special edition of the Crypto Daily Briefing: an AMA session on a day of major market news. Are NFTs Down for the Count?
You've seen the reports: Mainstream media have declared non-fungible tokens dead and have buried them forever. Yes, prices are way down from the peak. Yes, enthusiasm has waned. But is this the end of the story? Will NFTs fade into oblivion? Or is this just a floor from which NFTs will thrive again? Could it be about dominant players taking greater shares of the cake, i.e. the bigger projects cannibalizing the smaller? So many questions, and who better to answer them than Chris Maddern, the co-founder and CEO of Floor, an app that tracks NFTs. Chris joins Real Vision's Paul Guerra and Elaine Ly LIVE today for a Crypto Daily Briefing NFT bonanza. Chris, Paul, and Elaine talk about the top stories in the NFT space – Japan’s ambitious investment plans, Veefriends’ expansion into physical toys, and Improbable's $100 million funding round – and then take a step back to assess the big picture. We also have an update on TradFi giant Fidelity and its plans for an Ethereum index fund. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

USDC, Smaller Issuers, and Systemic Risk
When there’s talk of the risks stablecoins represent to the global financial system, Tether is usually the subject. And the largest stablecoin by market capitalization continues to generate questions about the reserves that support its U.S. dollar peg. However, according to a new report from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, even USDC, a stablecoin backed by higher-grade assets (based on self-declarations), could, too, represent a systemic risk. At the top of today’s edition of Real Vision Crypto Daily Briefing, Marco Olivera and Ash Bennington talk about why the New York Fed honed in on USDC. Ash and Marco also discuss a new report from the interagency Financial Stability Oversight Council that includes recommendations to the U.S. Congress on crypto regulation. And Morgan Creek Digital Managing Partner Mark Yusko joins our hosts for a broad and deep survey of the relationship between macro and crypto. Learn more about your ad choices.
