Destiny: Daniel Pinchbeck, 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl

Cross James Merrill, H. P. Lovecraft, and Carlos Castaneda -each imbued with a twenty-first-century aptitude for quantum theory and existential psychology-and you get the voice of Daniel Pinchbeck. And yet, nothing quite prepares us for the lucidity, rationale, and informed audacity of this seeker, skeptic, and cartographer of hidden realms.Throughout the 1990s, Pinchbeck had been a member of New York's literary select. He wrote for publications such as The New York Times Magazine, Esquire, and Harper's Bazaar. His first book, Breaking Open the Head, was heralded as the most significant on psychedelic experimentation since the work of Terence McKenna. But slowly something happened: Rather than writing from a journalistic remove, Pinchbeck-his literary powers at their peak-began to participate in the shamanic and metaphysical belief systems he was encountering. As his psyche and body opened to new experience, disparate threads and occurrences made sense like never before: Humanity, every sign pointed, is precariously balanced between greater self-potential and environmental disaster. The Mayan calendar's "end date" of 2012 seems to define our present age: It heralds the end of one way of existence and the return of another, in which the serpent god Quetzalcoatl reigns anew, bringing with him an unimaginably ancient-yet, to us, wholly new-way of living.A result not just of study but also of participation, 2012 tells the tale of a single man in whose trials we ultimately recognize our own hopes and anxieties about modern life.Pinchbeck, journalist and author of the drug-riddled psychonaut investigation Breaking Open the Head, has set out to create an "extravagant thought experiment" centering around the Mayan prophecy that 2012 will bring about the end of the world as we know it, "the conclusion of a vast evolutionary cycle, and the potential gateway to a higher level of manifestation." More specifically, Pinchbeck's claim is that we are in the final stages of a fundamental global shift from a society based on materiality to one based on spirituality. Intermittently fascinating, especially in his autobiographical interludes, Pinchbeck tackles Stonehenge and the Burning Man festival, crop circles and globalization, modern hallucinogens and the ancient prophesy of the Plumed Serpent featured in his subtitle.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

Destiny: John Selby, Cannabis for Couples

A step-by-step guide for using cannabis to deepen relationships emotionally, sexually, and spiritually.Explains the difference between getting high alone and as a couple and explores what happens from a psychological and neurological perspective Offers techniques to maximize the effects of being high, facilitate bonding, and resolve relationship issues, plus how to use cannabis as an aphrodisiac Examines marijuana’s effects on the chakras, including its impact on the heart chakra, and how to harness these effects to expand consciousness When couples enjoy cannabis together in the proper set and setting, the experience can deepen relationships through honest sharing and compassionate bonding, as well as boosting sexual pleasure, emotional growth, and spiritual togetherness. In this step-by-step guide to harnessing the benefits of getting high together, psychologist John Selby explores how to use cannabis as a powerful and effective path to strengthen your relationship and nurture your intimate life. Drawing on his own NIH brain research on the emotional impact of psychoactive chemicals, he explains the difference between getting high alone and as a couple and examines from a psychological and neurological perspective what happens when you get high. Revealing the seven primary types of inner experience and outer behavior stimulated by THC, the author shares stories from his four decades of practice as a couple’s therapist, discussing the power of THC and other cannabinoids to help heal emotional wounds and boost intimacy - and how to determine if using cannabis together is right for you and your partner. The author explains how to properly prepare for a cannabis session and how to use breath, meditation, and other focusing techniques to deepen the effects of being high and facilitate bonding. He reveals how cannabis-assisted relating can not only deepen relationships, but also help to heal anxiety, depression, and PTSD. This book also explores the use of cannabis for sexual pleasure and how the “muse of marijuana” can serve as an inner therapist to work out relationship issues. Shared laughter and emotional freedom are likewise encouraged. Selby also explores cannabis’ energetic influence on the chakras and how to balance and integrate the seven energy centers together with your partner during a cannabis session. Combining decades of counseling experience with scientific research, Selby encourages couples to enjoy recreational use and begin using cannabis as a unique tool for connecting as a couple and growing together emotionally, sexually, and spiritually.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

Richard Hansen: The Lords of El Mirador

The Mirador Basin Project is the largest multi-disciplinary research program in the history of Guatemala, with studies being conducted in archaeology, geology, geo-morphology, hydrology, and the biological disciplines concerning the flora and fauna of the basin. As the last large tract of rainforest remaining in Central America, it is crucial to conserve the Mirador-Calakmul Basin to the fullest extent possible, and in a manner that is sustainable, economically viable and inclusive to the local communities. Unfortunately, the Maya Biosphere Reserve has been severely threatened by roads (logging and petroleum), massive deforestation, poaching, and looting of priceless archaeological artifacts. Drug trafficking, large scale burning, and wholesale deforestation have also brought a myriad of problems to the region, devastating the ecosystem, fragmenting the tropical forest, and negatively affecting the lives of the people of Petén.Richard Hansen is a specialist on the ancient Maya civilization and directs the Mirador Basin Project, which investigates a circumscribed geological and cultural area known as the Mirador Basin in the northern Petén, Guatemala.[1][2] He has previously held positions at the University of California, Los Angeles and Idaho State University.[citation needed] He is also the founder and president of the Foundation for Anthropological Research and Environmental Studies (FARES). His work has been featured in 36 film documentaries and was the principal consultant for the movie Apocalypto (Mel Gibson) (Hansen 2012a), CBS Survivor Guatemala, and National Geographic's The Story of God with Morgan Freeman. He was also awarded the Orden de la Monja Blanca by the Guatemalan Ministry of Defense in 2019. He was named as "one of the 24 individuals that changed Latin America and his work has been an important contribution to the understanding of the development of Maya civilization.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

Destiny: Andrew Silverman, A Burst of Conscious Light

Provides evidence that human consciousness can never be reproduced and exposes the perils of artificial intelligence• Explains how consciousness transcends the brain and body through quantum theory and accounts of consciousness in the clinically dead• Shares scientific evidence of how the image on the Shroud of Turin was produced and connects these findings to evidence concerning near-death experiences• Reveals how consciousness cannot be reproduced by a machine and how attempts to do so threaten what makes us humanStephen Hawking once said that the unanticipated consequences of artificial intelligence will be the greatest threat to humanity’s survival. In this book, Dr. Andrew Silverman reveals why the powerful consciousness of the human mind could never be manufactured and so cannot be reproduced with technology.Integrating extensive scientific research from three seemingly unrelated fields of study--quantum mechanics, near-death experiences, and the Shroud of Turin--Silverman reveals the pitfalls and perils of artificial intelligence and addresses the fundamentally flawed thinking that underlies it. Drawing on his work as one of the leading experts on the Shroud of Turin as well as research by scientists from NASA and Los Alamos, he shows how the image on the Shroud could only have been produced by a flash of light as intense as a nuclear explosion--a burst of light that occurred after the body was in the tomb. Sharing medical evidence of consciousness in people declared clinically dead, the author shows how the light of consciousness evidenced by the Shroud is also a consistent feature of most near-death experiences.Exploring the non-local nature of consciousness--how it transcends the physical brain and body, Silverman explains why the human mind cannot be reduced to a computer and examines what separates sentient beings from machines. He shows how getting caught up in the push for artificial intelligence and the technological quest for immortality--through the attempt to “download” our minds onto computers--will only lead us to devalue and erase what makes us unique and irreplaceable in this cold, dark universe: our humanity.Recognized as a leading scientific expert on the Shroud of Turin, Dr. Andrew Silverman is a medical doctor with a background in physics. For over thirty years, he has been conducting research on the mind-matter continuum, near-death experiences, and the Shroud. He has presented his findings in peer-reviewed scientific papers and at international scientific conferences. He lives in Buckinghamshire, England.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

Destiny: Ann Gadd, Sex and the Enneagram

Understanding your approach to dating, relationships, and sex through the lens of your Enneagram personality type• Explains the relationship and sexual differences in the 9 Enneagram personality types for both genders• Examines how we can create greater intimacy with our partners and what blocks our sexual enjoyment• Looks at each type’s fantasies and investigates how our behavior in relationships alters according to how emotionally integrated or disintegrated we are• Explores the three types of love and their countertypes; each type’s Enneagram Passions and Virtues in relation to intimacy; how to engage with each type; and whether some types make better loversSex can take us from the sacred sublime to the darkest aspects of humanity. It can carry us on the wings of pure pleasure, or crush and potentially destroy us. No act in the human experience, barring the essential survival needs of food and water, can have more of an effect on us.In Sex and the Enneagram, Ann Gadd explores relationships and sex through the lens of the Enneagram, its nine personality types, and the subtypes of the wings and Instinctual Triads. The author introduces the Enneagram system and provides a full chapter devoted to each type. Avi Loeb: Identifying Extraterrestrial Artifacts in Space

“Provocative and thrilling ... Loeb asks us to think big and to expect the unexpected.”—Alan Lightman, New York Times bestselling author of Einstein’s Dreams and Searching for Stars on an Island in MaineHarvard’s top astronomer lays out his controversial theory that our solar system was recently visited by advanced alien technology from a distant star.In late 2017, scientists at a Hawaiian observatory glimpsed an object soaring through our inner solar system, moving so quickly that it could only have come from another star. Avi Loeb, Harvard’s top astronomer, showed it was not an asteroid; it was moving too fast along a strange orbit, and left no trail of gas or debris in its wake. There was only one conceivable explanation: the object was a piece of advanced technology created by a distant alien civilization. In Extraterrestrial, Loeb takes readers inside the thrilling story of the first interstellar visitor to be spotted in our solar system. He outlines his controversial theory and its profound implications: for science, for religion, and for the future of our species and our planet. A mind-bending journey through the furthest reaches of science, space-time, and the human imagination, Extraterrestrial challenges readers to aim for the stars—and to think critically about what’s out there, no matter how strange it seems.ABRAHAM (AVI) LOEB is the Frank B. Baird, Jr., Professor of Science at Harvard University, chair of Harvard’s Department of Astronomy, founding director of Harvard’s Black Hole Initiative, and director of the Institute for Theory and Computation (ITC) within the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. He also chairs the Advisory Committee for the Breakthrough Starshot Initiative, and serves as the science theory director for all Initiatives of the Breakthrough Prize Foundation, as well as chair of the Board on Physics and Astronomy of the National Academies. Author of four books and over 700 scientific papers, Loeb is an elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, the American Physical Society, and the International Academy of Astronautics. In 2012, Time selected Loeb as one of the twenty-five most influential people in space.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

Carole Davis & Bill Homann: The Crystal Skull Mystery

One of the most enigmatic and mysterious artifacts of all time, the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull has long been a source of both wonder and controversy; bringing out in those who study it states ranging from ecstatic visionary mystical experience to incredulous skepticism. As the story goes, the skull was discovered in 1927 by British adventurer and explorer F.A. Mitchell-Hedges and his adopted daughter Anna, in Mayan ruins at Lubaantun, in what was then British Honduras (present day Belize). Then branded as the "Skull of Doom" by F.A. Mitchell-Hedges, it was purported that Mayan priests could will death with the skull, and a series of stories about the 'curse' of the skull unfolded in the next several years. Later, the skull came to be associated with healing powers, visionary properties, and even the 2012 Mayan prophecies, and has subsequently been re-branded by Anna Mitchell-Hedges and the present caretaker of the skull, Bill Homann, as the "Skull of Love". Regardless of its caretaker or any 'magical' properties attributed to this artifact, stories of people having strange experiences in the presence of this skull stretch from the time of its discovery up to the present day, but skeptics remain unconvinced by these anecdotal accounts. Whether a believer or a skeptic, one must admit that this beautiful object holds a place of primal fascination in the minds of millions; this ultimate paradoxical symbol of our material impermanence: the human skull, wrought from one of the most spiritual and permanent of materials: quartz crystal. It has been said that the skull was carved by Mayans, Atlanteans, or even extra-terrestrial beings, and that it took anywhere from 150 to 300 years to produce (if made by Man). As one of the Hewlett Packard crystallographers said himself after studying the skull in 1970, "The damn thing shouldn't even be!". Even using today's most sophisticated technology, experts have stated time and time again that this mysterious artifact would be impossible for modern humans to reproduce.
