Avi Loeb: Identifying Extraterrestrial Artifacts in Space

“Provocative and thrilling ... Loeb asks us to think big and to expect the unexpected.”—Alan Lightman, New York Times bestselling author of Einstein’s Dreams and Searching for Stars on an Island in MaineHarvard’s top astronomer lays out his controversial theory that our solar system was recently visited by advanced alien technology from a distant star.In late 2017, scientists at a Hawaiian observatory glimpsed an object soaring through our inner solar system, moving so quickly that it could only have come from another star. Avi Loeb, Harvard’s top astronomer, showed it was not an asteroid; it was moving too fast along a strange orbit, and left no trail of gas or debris in its wake. There was only one conceivable explanation: the object was a piece of advanced technology created by a distant alien civilization. In Extraterrestrial, Loeb takes readers inside the thrilling story of the first interstellar visitor to be spotted in our solar system. He outlines his controversial theory and its profound implications: for science, for religion, and for the future of our species and our planet. A mind-bending journey through the furthest reaches of science, space-time, and the human imagination, Extraterrestrial challenges readers to aim for the stars—and to think critically about what’s out there, no matter how strange it seems.ABRAHAM (AVI) LOEB is the Frank B. Baird, Jr., Professor of Science at Harvard University, chair of Harvard’s Department of Astronomy, founding director of Harvard’s Black Hole Initiative, and director of the Institute for Theory and Computation (ITC) within the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. He also chairs the Advisory Committee for the Breakthrough Starshot Initiative, and serves as the science theory director for all Initiatives of the Breakthrough Prize Foundation, as well as chair of the Board on Physics and Astronomy of the National Academies. Author of four books and over 700 scientific papers, Loeb is an elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, the American Physical Society, and the International Academy of Astronautics. In 2012, Time selected Loeb as one of the twenty-five most influential people in space.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

Carole Davis & Bill Homann: The Crystal Skull Mystery

One of the most enigmatic and mysterious artifacts of all time, the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull has long been a source of both wonder and controversy; bringing out in those who study it states ranging from ecstatic visionary mystical experience to incredulous skepticism. As the story goes, the skull was discovered in 1927 by British adventurer and explorer F.A. Mitchell-Hedges and his adopted daughter Anna, in Mayan ruins at Lubaantun, in what was then British Honduras (present day Belize). Then branded as the "Skull of Doom" by F.A. Mitchell-Hedges, it was purported that Mayan priests could will death with the skull, and a series of stories about the 'curse' of the skull unfolded in the next several years. Later, the skull came to be associated with healing powers, visionary properties, and even the 2012 Mayan prophecies, and has subsequently been re-branded by Anna Mitchell-Hedges and the present caretaker of the skull, Bill Homann, as the "Skull of Love". Regardless of its caretaker or any 'magical' properties attributed to this artifact, stories of people having strange experiences in the presence of this skull stretch from the time of its discovery up to the present day, but skeptics remain unconvinced by these anecdotal accounts. Whether a believer or a skeptic, one must admit that this beautiful object holds a place of primal fascination in the minds of millions; this ultimate paradoxical symbol of our material impermanence: the human skull, wrought from one of the most spiritual and permanent of materials: quartz crystal. It has been said that the skull was carved by Mayans, Atlanteans, or even extra-terrestrial beings, and that it took anywhere from 150 to 300 years to produce (if made by Man). As one of the Hewlett Packard crystallographers said himself after studying the skull in 1970, "The damn thing shouldn't even be!". Even using today's most sophisticated technology, experts have stated time and time again that this mysterious artifact would be impossible for modern humans to reproduce. Destiny: Christian Funder, The Ayahuasca Experience

An exploration of the history, shamanic use, psychoactive effects, current scientific studies, and therapeutic potential of ayahuasca• Examines how ayahuasca affects the brain from a neuroscientific perspective and how its effects on consciousness relate to ancient esoteric texts• Shares interviews with people who have experienced ayahuasca’s powerful “spirit doctor” effects and the author’s own ayahuasca journey from suicidal depression to a soul at peace• Investigates how ayahuasca is interwoven with the ancient practices of Amazonian shamanismBrewed from a combination of two plants--the leaves of Psychotria viridis and the vine stalks of Banisteriopsis caapi--ayahuasca has been used for millennia by indigenous tribes throughout the Upper Amazon for healing and spiritual exploration. The shamans of the Peruvian Amazon call the plant spirit within the vine Abuela Ayahuasca, Grandmother Ayahuasca.Exploring the history, lore, traditional use, psychoactive effects, and current scientific studies, Christian Funder reveals how Grandmother Ayahuasca is a profound healer, wise teacher, and life-changing guide. Examining ayahuasca from a neuroscientific perspective, the author looks at recent research on the effects of DMT--one of the psychoactive compounds in ayahuasca--as well as fMRI studies of brain activity during altered states. He explores these fi ndings as they relate to the teachings on unified states of consciousness in ancient esoteric texts and to Aldous Huxley’s theory of psychedelics inhibiting the “reducing valve” mechanism of the brain.Sharing interviews with people who have experienced ayahuasca’s powerful “spirit doctor” effects, Funder also details his own revolutionary ayahuasca healing journey from suicidal depression to a soul at peace. He explores ayahuasca’s relationship to indigenous Amazonian shamanism, including an inside look at the Shipibo tribe and the healing songs known as icaros.Offering a holistic picture of ayahuasca--from science to spirit--the author shows that this venerated hallucinogenic tea has immense therapeutic potential and just might be the long-lost shamanic connection to the sacred Gaian mind.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

Freddy Silva: The Forgotten Gods

Eyewitness accounts from indigenous people around the world describe how a more advanced group of people lived alongside them 12,000 years ago. Described as 'human-like but not quite human', these gods were master navigators and astronomers who harnessed the laws of nature, built megalithic monuments and raised a comparatively high culture. In this daring, breathtaking, and original account of a parallel civilization, best-selling author Freddy Silva reveals new evidence behind these gods, from the Shining Ones, the People of the Serpent, and Followers of Horus to the Itz, Urukehu, the Apkallu sages and the Lords of Anu.He puts together a complex picture of how this global network fell prey to an unimaginable natural disaster whose survivors rebuilt their former world at strategic locations such as the Nile Valley and taught humans the roots of civilized society, proving why we 'magically' discovered civilization around 8500 BC.But more importantly, he also reveals where these gods once lived, and their ultimate place of origin. We learn about a landscape temple in New Zealand called Birthplace of the Gods, and how its creators established temple cities around the Pacific, in the Andes, the Yucatan, Egypt and the Middle East.We visit the city of the Shining People on Lake Titicaca, establish dates for antediluvian temples such as Tiwanaku and the Osirion, and discover how the Giza Pyramids and Gobekli Tepe are linked.Silva also details the ecological disaster that once engulfed the world, with evidence that it is destined to recur between 2030-2042, the outcome of which will be determined by the very people the flood gods once sought to elevate to their level.Freddy Silva is a best-selling author, and a leading researcher of ancient civilizations, restricted history, sacred sites and their interaction with consciousness. He has published six books in five languages. Described by one CEO as "perhaps the best metaphysical speaker in the world right now," for two decades he has been an international keynote speaker, with notable appearances at the International Science and Consciousness Conference, the International Society For The Study Of Subtle Energies & Energy Medicine, and the Association for Research and Enlightenment. He is a regular contributor to GAIA TV, and has appeared on The History Channel, BBC, and numerous international radio shows such as Coast To Coast, and Fade To Black. He is also a documentary filmmaker, art photographer, and leads private tours to sacred sites.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

Destiny: Dr. Tony Nader, T.M., Wisdom, Evolution and Empowerment

Transcendental Meditation (TM) refers to a specific form of silent, mantra meditation and the organizations that constitute the Transcendental Meditation movement.[1][2] Maharishi Mahesh Yogi created and introduced the TM technique and TM movement in India in the mid-1950s. Advocates of TM claim that the technique promotes a state of relaxed awareness, stress relief, and access to higher states of consciousness,[3] as well as physiological benefits such as reducing the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure.[4]Building on the teachings of his instructor Guru Dev, the Maharishi taught thousands of people during a series of world tours from 1958 to 1965, expressing his teachings in spiritual and religious terms.[5][6] TM became more popular in the 1960s and 1970s, as the Maharishi shifted to a more technical presentation, and his meditation technique was practiced by celebrities. At this time, he began training TM teachers and created specialized organizations to present TM to specific segments of the population such as business people and students. By the early 2000s, TM had been taught to millions of people; the worldwide TM organization had grown to include educational programs, health products, and related services.World renowned leader at the core of the Maharishi Foundations, a Harvard graduate neuroscientist, renowned Vedic scholar and world reference in Transcendental Meditation, Dr.Tony Nader formulates in this book a series of fundamental existential questions (what is our purpose in life, do we have true control over our destinies?) and, through the study of Consciousness, brings us answers with practical benefits that aim to give us enlightenment, peace and fulfillment.www.tm.orgBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

Nancy Marie Brown: The Real Valkyrie, Viking Warrior Women

In 2017, DNA tests revealed to the collective shock of many scholars that a Viking warrior in a high-status grave in Birka, Sweden was actually a woman. The Real Valkyrie weaves together archaeology, history, and literature to imagine her life and times, showing that Viking women had more power and agency than historians have imagined.Nancy Marie Brown uses science to link the Birka warrior, whom she names Hervor, to Viking trading towns and to their great trade route east to Byzantium and beyond. She imagines her life intersecting with larger-than-life but real women, including Queen Gunnhild Mother-of-Kings, the Viking leader known as The Red Girl, and Queen Olga of Kyiv. Hervor’s short, dramatic life shows that much of what we have taken as truth about women in the Viking Age is based not on data, but on nineteenth-century Victorian biases. Rather than holding the household keys, Viking women in history, law, saga, poetry, and myth carry weapons. These women brag, “As heroes we were widely known―with keen spears we cut blood from bone.” In this compelling narrative Brown brings the world of those valkyries and shield-maids to vivid life.Nancy Marie Brown is the author of highly praised books of nonfiction, including Song of the Vikings and Ivory Vikings. They have been favorably reviewed in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Economist, The Times Literary Supplement, The Wall Street Journal, and many other publications. Brown has spent decades studying Icelandic literature and culture. She lives on a farm in Vermont where she keeps four Icelandic horses and an Icelandic sheepdog.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

Dean Radin: Real Magic

The chief scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) turns a critical eye toward such practices as telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition and psychokinesis. Are such powers really possible? Science says yes.According to noted scientist and bestselling author of The Conscious Universe, Dean Radin, magic is a natural aspect of reality, and each of us can tap into this power with diligent practice. But wait, aren't things like ESP and telepathy just wishful thinking and flights of the imagination? Not according to the author, who worked on the US government's top secret psychic espionage program known as Stargate. Radin has spent the last forty years conducting controlled experiments that demonstrate that thoughts are things, that we can sense others' emotions and intentions from a distance, that intuition is more powerful than we thought, and that we can tap into the power of intention (think The Secret, only on a more realistic and scientific level). These dormant powers can help us to lead more interesting and fulfilling lives.Beginning with a brief history of magic over the centuries (what was called magic two thousand years ago is turning out to be scientific fact today), a review of the scientific evidence for magic, a series of simple but effective magical techniques (the key is mental focus, something elite athletes know a lot about), Radin then offers a vision of a scientifically-informed magic and explains why magic will play a key role in frontiers of science.DEAN RADIN, Ph.D., is Chief Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) and Distinguished Professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies. For nearly four decades he has been engaged in consciousness research. Before joining the research staff at IONS in 2001, he held appointments at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Princeton University, and several Silicon Valley think tanks, including SRI International, where he worked on a classified program investigating psychic phenomena for the U.S. government.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.
