1st Samuel Chapters 15 - 22: We see Israel's first king Saul slowly decend into a dark madness, while similtaneously we see a young annointed shepherd slowly start his journey to the throne. In chapter 15 the Lord eejects Saul and Samuel executes King Agag. Chapter 16 Samuel anoints David as the next king. 1st Samuel chapter 17 has to be one of the most famous chapters in the Old Testament: David kills Goliath. In chapters 18 to 20 we see the complicated relationships between Saul's children and David. David runs from King Saul in chapter 21 and then finally in chapter 22 Saul hits an all time low in the slaughter of the Priests. Moab and Ammon were born to Lot and Lot's elder and younger daughters, respectively, in the aftermath of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. The Bible refers to both the Moabites and Ammonites as Lot's sons, born of incest with his daughters (Genesis 19:37–38). Balak & Balaam Numbers 22 - 25 Deuteronomy 23:3 Those Excluded from the Assembly “No Ammonite or Moabite may enter the assembly of the Lord. Even to the tenth generation, none of them may enter the assembly of the Lord forever... The book of Zephaniah states that Moab would become "a permanent desolation".  Besides Ruth we have the following characters: NAOMI the Israelite widow BOAZ the Israelite Kinsman redeemer - "Man of Noble Character" Boaz is the son of Salmon and Rahab.  Ruth and Boaz have Obed. Joshua or Yehoshua (1355-1245 BC) functioned as Moses' assistant in the books of Exodus and Numbers, and later succeeded Moses as leader of the Israelite tribes in the Hebrew Bible's Book of Joshua. His name was Hoshea (הוֹשֵׁעַ‎ Hōšēaʿ) the son of Nun, of the tribe of Ephraim, but Moses called him "Joshua", the name by which he is commonly known in English.
