S3 Episode 8 - Doing You More
Dr Rebecca (Becci) Jackson is also known as The Quirky Brain Coach. Becci is an autistic and ADHD positive psychology coach who works with ADHD/autistic adults on zest, self-regulation and executive functions. Having been misdiagnosed with an anxiety disorder and depression, Becci discovered her neurodivergence towards the start of the pandemic. Once she got the user manual to her brain, she turned her interest and training in coaching into specifically focusing on coaching for people like her. Before that, she was a university lecturer in linguistics, completing a PhD in the field. When not eating, sleeping, breathing and researching coaching psychology, Becci can be found hiking, travelling, meditating, journalling, cuddling her dog, and planning her next holiday. Last year, Becci walked to Everest Base camp just to see if she could, and...she did. S3 Episode 6 - The Unknowing
Catherine speaks to Faye Twinn about her late autistic discovery. Faye discovered she was autistic in her late 30’s and this discovery changed her entire outlook on life itself. She spent her teens in Devon and it was there within her secondary school that she was identified as ‘dyslexic’. Struggling to fit in, she quickly self identified as arty and found that within the creative subjects she could strive. She went on to study Fine Art at Falmouth University. Later retaking her English and Maths GCSE’s, gaining a PGCE in arts education and completing a Masters in costume at Central Saint Martins, London. She feels that she scrabbled through her late teens and 20’s and worked in various settings to get by. Eventually settling into lecturing art and fashion. She spent 15 years as a Lecturer before resigning during the pandemic. These days Faye can be found working as a studio potter in Essex. She is married, has a 8 year old son and 2 step children in their 20’s. The work that she produces now, came from needing to step back and an understanding that some of us need to live slower for our well-being. She creates eco conscious functional pottery and strives to provide simple pieces that can be used to create little moments of loveliness. Her pottery is sold across a number of independent lifestyle stores through out the UK and is also available from her website Follow Faye on InstagramConnect with CatherineBuy Catherine's Book 'Rediscovered'Visit Catherine's website Contact CatherineFollow Catherine on Instagram Need Post Discovery Support?Join our next 6 week post discovery support circleJoin our Late Discovered Club Community & our FREE monthly Community Connection Circle.Explore The Asta Community of Professionals NEW National Autism Peer Education Programme From December 2025, Catherine will be hosting the NHS commissioned and funded 'Autism Central Podcast' as part of the £6 million National Autism Peer Education Programme being delivered by Anna Freud over the next 3 years. S3 Episode 5 - The Missing Piece
Catherine speaks to Anita Patel about her late autistic discovery. Anita received a late diagnosis of Autism and ADHD in 2023, after recovering from breast cancer and also burnout, through many years of masking. Being a South Asian woman and having a family who do not ‘fit the mould’, she knows first-hand about the further cultural challenges that exist for neurodivergent individuals. This is turn can feel isolating - and stops them from sharing their experiences - she is hoping to try and change this. One of her favourite quotes is:“Fair isn’t everyone getting the same thing. S3 Ep2 - Pete Wharmby
It's World Autism Acceptance Week, so we thought we'd bring you an extra special episode to celebrate someone who, through his advocacy work, books and his very presence, has made a significant difference to our Late Discovered Community - we're not sure that Pete really knows the difference he has made to helping others feel seen, heard and understood through his work, and his words as a best selling author and speaker.Pete was diagnosed as autistic at the age of 34 in 2017, and in this episode we explore his late discovered autistic story. And whilst this podcast is to give autistic women and marginalized genders a voice, it’s also vitally important that we hear as many late discovered voices and perspectives on the autistic experience, so we will be making *additional* space to hear more from the male experience of late discovery, and we're hoping that Pete might help us with bringing more of those stories to life!Follow Pete on Instagram and LinkedInPete's websiteConnect with CatherineBuy Catherine's Book 'Rediscovered'Visit Catherine's website Contact CatherineFollow Catherine on Instagram Need Post Discovery Support?Join our next 6 week post discovery support circleJoin our Late Discovered Club Community & our FREE monthly Community Connection Circle.Explore The Asta Community of Professionals NEW National Autism Peer Education Programme From December 2025, Catherine will be hosting the NHS commissioned and funded 'Autism Central Podcast' as part of the £6 million National Autism Peer Education Programme being delivered by Anna Freud over the next 3 years. S2 Episode 16 - Searching For The Why
In this episode we are joined by Helen Hillman - a late discovered autistic woman, who made her autistic discovery whilst in therapy, and received her official diagnosis last year at the age of 28 after a long history of poor mental health. Helen has suffered with anxiety all her life, which she thought was explained by a diagnosis of dyspraxia when she was 18. She had her first breakdown, and was diagnosed with generalised anxiety, depression and obsessive compulsive disorder at age 20.Helen experienced a second breakdown at age 24, and at this point, was unable to leave the house more than once or twice a week, and was losing hope, so mounted a search for a therapist. Helen talks in the episode about the life changing role that therapy played in her autistic discovery, and hopes that it helps those thinking about therapy, and therapists themselves.Helen has become increasingly convinced that sharing her experience will not only prove invaluable to her own processing, but is the surest way to help other women and girls who find themselves in similar positions to get the help they need.
