In 2015, the league reached a $765 million settlement with over 4,500 players who claimed in a lawsuit that the NFL had hidden the dangers of concussions. The league denied any wrongdoing. The pricetag crushes the record for a professional sports team set in March by the Celtics, which were purchased for $6.1 billion by a group led by Bill Chisholm.
