Matt Bottrill is one of the UK’s most successful time trialists, and has gone on to become a highly sought after coach, bike fitter and bike aerodynamics specialist. 383 Age Group Story: Simon Maguire Completes his Ironman
Simon Maguire is an Age Grouper and has been a member of Team Oxygenaddict for the last two years. He’s been on an amazing, transformational journey in that time: he’s lost over 85 pounds in weight, and recently completed a self supported Ironman in memory of his Mum, who sadly passed away from cancer 25 years earlier. Along the way, he’s overcome a reliance on alcohol and painkillers that had become problematic for him, and has completely turned his life around. Simon’s journey, and the event itself, has been a massive inspiration for our Team members over the last 2 years, and I’m so proud we can share his success story with the World!

382 Dr. Rebecca Robinson - 2022 Covid Recovery Guidelines for Athletes
Dr. Rebecca Robinson is a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine and splits her time between professional sport, the NHS and clinical time at Center for Health and Human Performance in London, where one of her roles is to run the Long Covid clinic, helping patients get back to exercise more quickly. She’s also an elite mountain and road runner as well!
In this long form interview, we dive deeply into how athletes should approach their recovery from Covid, how to safely return to exercise, symptoms to look out for as you recover from Covid, and the importance of putting health first.

Jan Sibbersen broke the Kona swim record in 2018, recording an incredible 46.29. This is made all the more remarkable given that he was 43 years old and it was nearly 20 years since he’d retired as a professional triathlete!

379 Richard Murray - From Cardiac Care to Podium
Richard Murray has had one of the most decorated triathlon careers - double World Junior duathlon champion, double African Triathlon champion, multiple ITU World Series event winner, Commonwealth Games Bronze medalist, and 4th place at the Olympic games in 2016.
However, 8 weeks before the 2020 Olympics (in summer 2021), things changed in an instant for Richard during a swim session where he could feel things were not right, with his heart racing and beating erratically during his warm up. He was taken immediately to hospital and subsequently diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation, a condition where the heart loses it’s ability to regulate how fast it beats. He underwent heart surgery in an attempt to cure the condition and be ready in time for the Olympics. This is Richard’s story, in his own words for the first time, of recovering from cardiac care and his return to health and racing.

378 Dan Dixon - GB’s next Superstar
Dan Dixon is a young talent from the North East of England, who has burst onto the senior scene this year with a win at the America’s Cup race in Clermont Florida, and then backed this up with a third place at the Sarasota race, behind former World Champion Richard Murray and Olympic relay silver medalist Kevin McDowell. Dan was British Elite Champion in 2021, and has previously won the Junior race at SuperLeague Malta in very impressive fashion. We catch up with the young gun to hear about his races, training with coach Ryan Bolton, and training with Sam Long, Lionel Sanders and Ben Hoffman.
