Eat Your Organ Meats! James Barry-Founder of Pluck
Who says organ meats can’t be delicious? Well, James Barry certainly makes them taste good. 17 year chef turned organ meat seasonings purveyor James Barry shares his entrepreneurial journey and details about the company he’s founded.
Oh! Get this YOU the Jason Wright show listener get a hookup. Use promo code IMPROVE at checkout for a 15% discount on the best and healthiest seasonings you’ve EVER put in your face hole!
James is a cool guy who turned a dream and a passion into the reality of a great company. Oh, and I’ve tried the product. I’m hooked. The Garlic Zest seasoning is stupid good. Here’s a little more about James and Pluck.
Hi, I’m James, founder of Pluck.
At Pluck, we’re all about organ meats, yet not just any organ meats. Quality is everything when eating any part of an animal. We define quality as grass-fed, grass-finished, humanely treated, pasture-raised animals raised with no GMOs or hormones. “As close to nature as possible” is what I say.
There’s a lot of what is wrong in our current agricultural systems, but more and more farms are pivoting to what is right: Regenerative Agriculture. With diverse crop coverage and no tilling we can change not only the food produced on these farms but our health as well. We are what we eat AND what we eat eats.
Ancestral principles of “like supports like” and nose-to-tail eating drive our mission at Pluck. We are missing out on the whole animal benefits when we only eat muscle meat. Pluck is the perfect gateway into eating organs because it doesn’t taste like organ meat. What you taste is the savory, deliciousness of Umami (the fifth taste). Eating organs support the health of your organs. Even better, organs contain bioavailable nutrients which means you get more “bang-for-your-buck” because your body can recognize and absorb these essential vitamins and nutrients.
Look, I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t eat organ meats as a kid.
I was the pickiest of picky eaters.
I didn’t eat my first taco until college. When I say that I had a PB&J sandwich for lunch daily between the ages of 5 and 15…I’m not joking. Growing up, we basically ate the same 4 or 5 home-cooked meals every week. Fridays were pizza night out and Sundays were Chinese food ordered in.
As a child of the 70s, I grew up eating fast food, frozen vegetables, and when microwaves started becoming vogue, microwave meals, particularly popcorn. My father owned a grocery store so we had access to lots of common foods and snacks, most of all, candy!
I understand picky eating and more importantly, I understand the human need for comfort food.
In fact, I’ve spent the last 16+ years as a professional chef focused on making comfort foods healthy without sacrificing taste. I’ve cooked for celebrities, musicians, and billionaires, but it was becoming a father that forced me to go deeper in my exploration of functional food.
At the age of two, my youngest daughter was afflicted with the life-threatening Shiga toxin. I had left town for work thinking she was on the road to recovering only to return to her looking like skin and bones. It was a truly frightening time where my wife and I struggled to get nutrients into her.
Fortunately, she survived and is a vibrant, healthy child but the experience left me wanting to create a functional food product that anyone could eat and benefit from without requiring them to adopt new habits or step outside of their comfort zone.
That’s what Pluck is all about. Nutrition in a pinch. No need to adopt new habits, simply use Pluck instead of salt and pepper and turn everything into a nutrient-rich, bio-available superfood.

Anxiety or Fear? How do you know? Proven strategy for relieving fear and anxiety.
It’s 2:30 a.m. All of the sudden it happens. The damn smoke alarm is chirping. Why? Is it a dead battery? Is it some sort of special alarm reserved for Zombie attacks? What is going on? Then in starts. You try to make it stop.
You press the little protruding button on the outside. Nothing. The chirp continues. Then you try to dial in your code on the alarm pad. Nothing. Still chirp…….chirp…….chirp…..then it happens. You decide to just rip the thing off the wall. Bring on the Zombies. Bring on a fire just make this damn thing stop. Finally after taking a baseball bat to the alarm and throwing it in the street you settle back in for some shuteye.
In my interview with Dr. John Delony, we discussed anxiety. Dr. John described anxiety as being like a smoke alarm. We know there’s smoke somewhere, but where is it?
Often what we term as anxiety is just adult-speak for fear. Instead of saying, “I’m afraid of…” we say, “I’m anxious about..” However much of what we term as anxiety is merely a signal of a fear.
If we can connect the dots from anxiety to our fear, then we can deal with the root of the problem.
In this episode I deconstruct this idea as well as give a description of the different parts of the brain that impact fear and anxiety as well as suggest solutions to quash our fears or at least put them in their proper perspective.
Thanks for listening.

David Limbaugh and Christen Limbaugh Bloom On Their New Book 'The Resurrected Jesus'
NATIONAL BESTSELLER!The Resurrected, Conquering JesusIn the fifth and final installment of his bestselling Jesus series, David Limbaugh digs into the New Testament epistles with passion and imagination, showing that the testimony of Jesus’ earliest followers provides irrefutable proof of His resurrection.Inspired by God and penned by the apostles, the epistles were written to the first Christians to proclaim the divinity of Christ and to encourage them to persevere through persecution, famine, sickness, and doubt. On a lawyerly quest for truth, Limbaugh looks behind these biblical texts, exploring the lives of their authors, who included some of those closest to the Lord—his most intimate friends, Peter and John, and his own kinsmen James and Jude. The result is an unforgettable encounter with Jesus. The Resurrected Jesus speaks to the struggles the church faces today, strengthening believers and challenging doubters with the eyewitness accounts of the messengers who travelled far and wide to proclaim the resurrected Christ.
Limbaugh was born on December 11, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Mildred Carolyn “Millie” (née Armstrong) and Rush Hudson Limbaugh, Jr.[1] Limbaugh’s paternal grandfather was Missouri state representative, lawyer, and United States Ambassador Rush Hudson Limbaugh Sr.
Following high school, Limbaugh attended Southeast Missouri State University in 1971 and 1972, transferring to the University of Missouri, where he graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Limbaugh then went on to law school at Missouri where he received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Missouri in 1978.[2] He also served in the National Guard for six years. He has written columns that are carried by Creators Syndicate,[3] Townhall.com, WorldNetDaily and Jewish World Review.[4] In addition to his legal and writing work, Limbaugh also works as an agent for several conservative talk radio hosts.[5]
He currently practices law as a partner at The Limbaugh Firm and specializes in entertainment law.[6]
Limbaugh was chosen by Christian authors Norman Geisler and Frank Turek to write the foreword to their book I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist (Crossway, 2004). In the book, Limbaugh states that he became a Christian after years of being a skeptic and that he now has a strong interest in Christian apologetics.[7] Limbaugh describes himself as “an evangelical Christian”.[8]
Limbaugh and his wife, Lisa, have five children.[1] Limbaugh has written several books, some of which have been bestsellers, such as Crimes Against Liberty, which was The New York Times’ Non-fiction best seller for two weeks in 2010.[9]
From Christen’s website
My name is Christen Limbaugh Bloom and I’m the creator of Haplous. I absolutely love Jesus and am genuinely “wow’d” CONSTANTLY by His immense grace and love. For a long time I tried to start reading the Bible but never really knew how to get hooked like so many people in my life were.
That all changed one summer when one of my best friends gave me a daily devotional. That devotional became the first baby step I needed to start growing the deeply personal relationship with Jesus I had heard so many people describe, but had never experienced for myself. THANK YOU JESUS! (literally). My relationship with Jesus started to flourish when I finally took the pressure off MYSELF, and allowed HIM to transform my heart, day by day.
People began to notice a difference in me and I, in turn, started telling them about all of the books, devotionals, websites, & scholars I had stumbled upon throughout my journey to get to know God. And that’s exactly what I intend to share HERE with you. I’ve created this page for people who are craving a deeper connection with God, but don’t know where to start.
I hope these #babysteps will help each & every one of you. Jesus LOVES you! For real. He is an actual person who loves you. He also has a PLAN for YOU. Take your first #babystep and subscribe to the Haplous blog!

s That The Best You Can Do? Growth Minded Monday-Henry Kissinger, A Trip To The Moon and What It Means To Do Your Best
Sr. Aide to Henry Kissinger, Winston Lord was asked to prepare a speech for Kissinger. Upon completion he handed it to his boss. Contacting his boss a little later for feedback Kissinger replies, “Are you sure this is the best you can do?
Lord replies “Henry, I thought so, but I’ll try again.”
Lord then goes back to the drawing board, tweaks, revises and resubmits another a draft a few days later.
The next day, Kissinger calls Lord into his office and again asks “Are you sure this is the best you can do?”
Lord begins to question his work and says “Well, I really thought so. I’ll try one more time.”
Believe it or not, this uncomfortable and rejecting process goes on for EIGHT times; EIGHT drafts; each time Kissinger standing firm to his original feedback of “Is this the best you can do?”
Lord returns to Kissinger’s office with the now NINTH draft and awaits his response.
Surely enough, Kissinger calls Lord in the next day and asks him the same question, “Is this the best you can do?”
Lord, now completely fed up, furiously replies “Henry! I’ve beaten my brains out – this is the ninth draft! I know it’s the best I can do; I can’t possibly improve one more word!!!”
Kissinger then looks at Lord and nonchalantly says “Well, in that case, now I’ll read it.”
Why is it was so often choose to do second best when we absolutely know it’s our first best that’s needed?

Stone Chiseler Sunday-Chapter 8 "To Whom Does The Stone Belong?"
Each of us face obstacles and struggles. Each of us have been given a life and mind to determine what to make of it. In this chapter Giovanni must begin to decide to whom does the stone and more importantly his life ultimately belong?
As Viktor Frankl said, “If one can’t change their circumstances, one must change themself.”

"I will never get married. It makes no sense."-Jason Wright
So that has proven to be one of the dumbest most backward things I have ever said in my life. It turns out not only is marriage the best thing that has ever happened to me, it is good for others as well.
Married couples live longer, have less strokes and are happier on the whole than those who are not. There is also many other ancillary benefits to marriage.
However, with the redefinition of..well everything we marriage is losing in popularity. This era of self worship is causing marriage to make less sense to people. However, the statistics show this is not a good thing.
In this episode I take a look at some stats from Scott Galloway’s book “Adrift-America in 100 charts” to discuss some of the ‘beneath the surface’ numbers of what’s going on in society.
I hope you’ve had a great week!

Monday Mission: Improve Your Decision Making by Scrapping the Ben Franklin List! Inside vs. Outside Knowledge
We’ve all made them-the proverbial Ben Franklin pros vs. cons list. However, these really aren’t all that effective. The reason is because they tend to be clouded by our self fulfilling prophecies. We want what we want, and as a result we tend to not be very objective when making these lists.
We will ‘yea but’ a con off the list because of our inside information. We know we should put it on the con, but we will say to ourselves, “Yea, but she’s so sweet.” “Yea but, I’ve always wanted a car like that.” We will ‘yea but’ our way from one bad decision to another if we aren’t careful.

So my boy Josh Tomlin stopped in today to discuss what’s going on with the boys of October. We also covered such topics as the proper etiquette when shaking hands and the value of a well executed bro hug.
As always the conversation was fun, lively and complete with stupidity. Just like Josh and I.
