About 30% of natural gas in the U.S. passes through pipelines owned by Williams, which is undergoing a transformation under President & CEO Alan Armstrong, who was appointed to the top job in 2011. Alan was a recent guest of Betty Liu on Slice, part of ICE’s Insights Platform, where she he talked to him about the role of technology in the energy sector and what it takes to lead an evolving company. Since Petrobras CEO Roberto Branco took the helm of the Brazilian energy giant a year ago, the legendary executive has embarked on a digital transformation of the company with over 63,000 employees. Representation among women and minorities on corporate boards is ticking up, but more work lies ahead as investors and other stakeholders demand more diversity. Data show that more diversity can drive better results, and the NYSE Board Advisory Council was launched to champion qualified candidates nominated by leaders of listed companies.
