100. Modern Art: Revealing the Hidden Thing

Everyone likes to hate on modern art. Recently Dimes wrote an interesting piece pushing back on this impulse. Since I have decided to retire the “Christian Ghetto Podcast” and integrate all my audio content under the “Seeking the Hidden Thing” banner, why not mark the occasion by having my 100th audio recording under the “Seeking” name also be my first podcast discussion under the actual name of this Substack. I have invited Dimes and Gio's Content Corner. on to both celebrate the moment and have a discussion on modern art in our present political moment. Maybe it will help you to re-think knee jerk reactions to it and appreciate it in a new light. Maybe it will help you see something you couldn’t otherwise see. Maybe the being of our age will be revealed to you. Here is the piece under discussion: We also discuss a number of specific pieces. I have included images in the video for those that want to follow along that way. For those that want to listen, here are all the images in order:Seeking the Hidden Thing is a reader-supported publication. 33. Conscious Caracal - Ernst van Zyl: the Future of the Afrikaner in South Africa

I was planning that the next podcast would bring about the unification of my podcasts and readings under a single banner with recording 100. In the meantime, there has been so much happening in South Africa that it seemed prudent to get this conversation out to you sooner rather than later. So that means one last episode of the Christian Ghetto Podcast before that moniker is retired. Not to worry, members of the Ghetto will certainly show up in the future, but this will both clean up the branding and hopefully allow a wider group of guests and thus a more diverse collection of conversations. But with my recent hard drive crash, it also meant re-doing all the visuals and the intros and outros as well. Enjoy. This was an informative discussion for me. Hopefully it will be for you as well. You can find Afriforum here: https://afriforum.co.za/en/Bumper Music: Gregorian Chant Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Music promoted by https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/ This is a public episode. 98. Why There Can Be No "Conservative" Administrative State

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.seekingthehiddenthing.comMuch of our current politics appears to be shaped by ideology when it is in reality shaped by the demands of the technological system. In this system, there can be no "conservatism."Seeking the Hidden Thing is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

96. "God's Will for Your Life"

I managed to secure the audio for the sermon I posted and gave on Sunday. It ended up being 42 minutes. I think I need to work on shaving my sermon lengths down a little, although the feedback was positive. I think I am going to post it here as an audio only video here and let Substack convert the video into an audio podcast on their app and to send out to place like Apple and Spotify. I am thinking, why should only the meagre YouTube audience get to see the nice video and intros and outros? Since there is no loss in terms of podcast availability and functionality, and some of you said you prefer the video, even if it is only a static pic, so I will just have to get over my fixation on the consistency of my numbers — a “managerial” fixation if there ever was one. 95. Revealing the City of God

This is the reading of my recent piece appearing in American Reformer. It was a long article and many of you prefer to listen rather than read the lengthier ones. You can find the written version here: https://americanreformer.org/2025/04/revealing-the-city-of-god/Sponsorship Partners: https://axios-remote-fitness-coaching.kit.com/42cbb1575c This is a public episode. 94. "Seek the Lord While He Might Be Found"

Rather than try to record my recent Lenten sermon, the text of which I recently shared, I instead managed to procure the audio from when I preached it live. So, this is what I sound like from the pulpit. Enjoy. Here is the written version: https://www.seekingthehiddenthing.com/p/seek-the-lord-while-he-might-be-found This is a public episode. 32. Forgiveness

In this engaging conversation, The Black Horse, a writer specializing in political and social issues from a Christian viewpoint, explores the profound themes of forgiveness during Holy Week. He unpacks the complexities of forgiveness within the Christian community, especially in the wake of heinous acts, while addressing its intersection with justice and societal expectations. The discussion highlights the spiritual imperative of forgiveness, advocating for personal reconciliation that fosters community healing and challenges cycles of vengeance.
