Scent*Tattoo - Summer Hill by Crabtree & Evelyn
#61: I'm releasing a series of short episodes showcasing stories from my Scent*Tattoo project. The project aims to connect humans through our sense of smell. I interview people and ask them to share a deeply emotional and personal scent memory, and then I document the story on my websitescenttattoo.com. This episode is yet another reading of one of the scent tattoos, however it's a little different because this story comes from the perspective of someone living with smell loss, which means she had to access the scent memory from a deeper mental reserve. As with all the stories, I hope you connect with this one in some small way - especially if you, yourself, are living with smell loss and maybe haven’t thought about tapping into your own scent memory reserves. And if you can smell, I hope it gives you another perspective. If you'd like to contribute to the project, and share your own scent memory, email me atanaromaticlifepodcast@gmail.com.

Pt 1 - The Brain & Olfaction with Professor James Goodwin
#54: In Part I of a two-part series, Frauke sits down with renowned brain expert Professor James Goodwin to give a historical perspective on our understanding of the brain and sense of smell (because smelling is in the brain). Dr. Goodwin shares how the scientific community evolved in their perception of the brain and olfactory system, what evolutionary role our sense of smell has played to make us who we are today, and why smelling is so different to our other senses (and other mammals). This episode is rich with important facts and stories of castrated pigs, the smell of blood, the Berlin Wall, and tamping rods blown through heads which will, no doubt, leave you very intrigued. At the end Dr. Goodwin shares the three biggest scientific findings in the last 20 years that have revolutionized how we look at brain health, which will definitely make you curious for Part II to come.
