Give some examples.What does that say about God that the bar to entry from a cultural perspective was really low? What thoughts might you have had in observing who Jesus chose to be his closest followers? Explain. 2) Wants to be my disciple“Wants” implies it is a choice that we make to follow Jesus or not. Why do you think Jesus would give us a choice and not demand that we love and follow Him? Can love be forced? Explain. 2. When you hear that you are God’s plan A to TELL the world that Jesus is King and to SHOW what the world what the Kingdom of Jesus looks like, how do you respond to that? Thoughts, emotions, desires??? Why? 3. How have you seen God use you as a witness for Jesus and His Kingdom? How would you desire to see God use you? Explain. 4. What challenges or barriers have you faced in being a witness for Jesus? What would it take for you to overcome those challenges? 5. Being a ‘witness’ means we SHOW and TELL. We SHOW the world what the Kingdom of Jesus looks like and we TELL the world how to make Jesus their King. Why is both SHOWING and TELLING essential to help people come to faith in Jesus and to follow Him? 6. In Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) he outlines what His Kingdom looks like. Read through that and make observations of what the world looks like when Jesus is King.Is that a compelling vision of the world to you? Do you imagine it would be compelling to others? Explain. 7. When telling the story of your life of faith, why would it be important to share authentically (joys, challenges, questions, failures, hope)? What is the cost of not being authentic about our faith? 8. Read John 4 about the Samaritan women. What made her an unlikely candidate for being a witness for Jesus? How have you experienced pain and suffering in this life?  How have you seen suffering in the lives of people that you love?  Share some specific examples from your life.   2. How would you describe the biblical practice of lament?  Why do you think lament is so prominent in the psalms?  What does this tell us about the reality and normalcy of experiencing suffering?   6. Recall the illustration from the sermon of the hand in front of your face (circumstances/suffering):Why is it important to focus on the hand (name and acknowledge the reality of your suffering) and focus on the distance (God’s character/promises/faithfulness and future redemption of all things)?   8. Read Psalm 22 (a psalm of lament)What parts focus on the pain/suffering of life (hand) and what parts focus on the faithfulness of God (distance)?  Why do you think it is important to identify and name both of those clearly when we are praying lament?    9. What is a situation of pain and suffering in your life right now?  Write a short psalm (prayer) of lament focusing both on the challenge and complaint as well as the character of God and your trust in Him.   10.
