197: Lily Cole | Part 1
Joining me this week is activist, actress and supermodel Lily Cole. She was one of the earliest advocates for sustainability in the fashion industry and since then, has been at the forefront of climate activism. This was a fascinating conversation that took so many brilliant twists and turns - from discovering queerness later in life, to queer artists that have been forgotten in history, to the best self-help books you can buy.We have linked Lily’s brilliant reading suggestions below. 196: Edward Enninful | Part 2
Vogue Magazine’s @edward_enninful is the man changing fashion from the top. He’s the first black editor, and the first gay male editor of @britishvogue, and his story is incredible. From a kid growing up on a military base in Ghana who didn’t even know what gay was, fleeing to London as a refugee, to becoming the most important voice in fashion, he has consistently made it his business to be the driving force behind seeing trans, queer, and diverse faces in fashion. He has now put pen to paper with his memoir ‘A Visible Man’ that details the life of a trailblazer, plus a fair old sprinkling of parties with the likes of Grace Jones, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, wonderful tales of being a queer kid in the 90’s, and we even find out what the ONE piece of advice Anna Wintour gave him that he always cherished. You can get a copy of Edward's memoir here. 195: Life as a Gay British Farmer with Ben Andrews | Part 2
This week, armed with his tractor and JCB, we speak to Ben Andrews about life as a gay farmer. Ben is one of the founding members of Agrespect, set up to ensure diversity and inclusivity in the farming industry. I LOVED hearing about drag queens with freeholds, queer culture in Hereford and what happens when you unite the UK’s queer farming community in a WhatsApp group. Ben also shares his personal experience of growing up gay within a farming family and it's a beautiful episode x Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
