In 2012, the average price of a dozen eggs in the U.S. was $1.84. In 2023, Jason Whitlock paid over $7 for a dozen eggs. Last year, the Golden Globe Awards were untelevised. This year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association chose comedian Jerrod Carmichael to emcee the proceedings. Carmichael started the ceremony by saying, “I’m here because I’m black.” Following a brief moment of silence to discomfort the audience, he continued, “This show, the Golden Globe Awards, did not air last year because the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which I won’t say were a racist organization, but they didn’t have a single Black member until George Floyd died.
