#Foreman15 Wenn es um das einfache Bereitstellen neuer Hosts im Rechenzentrum geht, ist oft von Foreman die Rede. Ergänzt um das Katello-Plugin ergibt sich so eine leistungsfähige Software, die vollumfängliches Lifecycle- und Patch-Management erlaubt. Die Enterprise-Kundschaft kennt diese Kombination auch als Red Hat Satellite. Diesen Monat wird das Foreman-Projekt stolze 15 Jahre alt - ein guter Grund zu feiern! Zusammen mit Evgeni Golov, Bernhard Suttner und Dirk Götz besprechen wir neben einigen Grundlagen vor allem persönliche Anekdoten aus unseren Projekten. #ZwoEinsRISCio Im Juni sorgte CVE-2024-1086 kurzzeitig für Aufsehen. NixOS 24.05 und SLES sowie openSUSE Leap 15 SP6 wurden veröffentlicht - letzteres steht für das letzte Release der Hauptversion. Zabbix erschien in der neuen Version 7.0. Neben zahlreichen Software-Updates wurden auch neue ARM- und RISC-V-Notebooks verschiedener Hersteller angekündigt. #SUSECON24 Im ersten Teil unseres SUSECON-Specials besprechen wir in großer Runde die Highlights der dreitägigen Konferenz in Berlin. In insgesamt 127 Sessions gab es zahlreiche Informationen, die besprochen werden wollen. Auch dieses Mal kam mit SUSE AI der omnipräsente Dauerbrenner nicht zu kurz - hier lassen technische Details jedoch noch auf sich warten. SLES 15 SP6 wurde veröffentlicht, SP7 wird als letztes Update bis zu 2037 unterstützt, während SLES 16 für 2025 erwartet wird. Mit SUSE Manager 5.0 wird sehr bald eine neue Hauptversion der Management-Suite veröffentlicht, die alte Zöpfe abschneidet und vollständig containerisiert ist. In Harvester gibt es einige kleinere technische Erneuerungen, während die Rancher vor allem als LTS-Version länger unterstützt werden soll. Für NeuVector gibt es zwei neue Erweiterungen. #RedHatSummit In our Red Hat Summit Special we were honored talking to some valuable experts. Craig gave us valuable insights on Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform 2.5 and Ansible Lightspeed. We've had a fun session with Eric talking about his view on RHEL Lightspeed and his favorite AI-based utilities. Matthew shared recent Fedora development (and his favorite niche desktops) with us. #RedHatSummit Im ersten Teil unseres Summit-Specials diskutieren wir die Highlights der Red Hat Summit in Denver. Mit insgesamt 485 Präsentationen und Workshops gab es viel Informationen die es wert sind, besprochen zu werden. So gibt es mit InstructLab nun ein Framework für einfachere Benutzung und Entwicklung generativer KI-Modelle - samt quelloffener Basismodelle. Podman wird um eine lokale KI-Entwicklungsumgebung erweitert, während mit RHEL Lightspeed ein in Entwicklung befindlicher Betriebsassistent angeteasert wurde. Neben omnipräsenter KI-Themen wurde mit dem Image Mode for RHEL ein neuer Betriebssystem-Ansatz vorgestellt, bei dem bootfähige Container-Images zum Einsatz kommen. Ansible Automation Platform 2.5 befindet sich kurz vor der Fertigstellung und wird mit zahlreichen spannenden UX-Veränderungen erscheinen.
